Check Out Caroline Parsons’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Parsons.

Hi Caroline, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started The Luminary Lion in March 2019. The first Bible I ever did was for my best friend, Alexandria Reed, as a present. She inspired me to start selling my creations and here we are! This business has been such a blessing in my life. It was there for me during the pandemic after losing my job and being unemployed for 7 months. It gave me sense of purpose and provided for me during a difficult season of my life. Looking back, I know God spoke that into my friend because He knew the season that lay ahead. I work full time in addition to owning my small business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am a business of one, so it is nice to take things at my own pace and make my own rules. However, setting boundaries and managing my time are two things I have had to learn along the way (and am always working on!). I work full time in addition to owning my small business and I also have a really hard time saying “no”. I am learning how to say no (or at least “not yet”) and ensure the decisions I make for my business do not leave me feeling bitter towards it. I don’t want my business to be something I feel like I “have” to do. It has always been a passion project for me, a way to serve others and to serve the Lord. So, when I find myself feeling obligated, I take a step back, remind myself why I started this, and reevaluate my workload and priorities.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am best known for my hand-painted, custom Bibles. I sell ESV, NIV, and CSB Bible that can be customized with names, favorite verses, favorite colors, etc. I offer a variety of options: Ready Made which is already made so you don’t have to make any decisions! Semi-Custom which is already painted but you get to pick the words that go on it and Fully Custom which is completely designed from scratch by the client!

In addition to Bibles, I also do hand-painted journals, stickers and I just started doing drink-ware as well (tumblers and glass mugs).

What sets me apart is my reason for starting this business: to let His light shine through me and to serve others and the Lord. I look at what I do as an opportunity to serve others and spread God’s word. I do my best to keep that at the center of all that I do and I think (or at least hope) that shows through to those who work with me!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First and foremost, God. He spoke this into my heart and is the reason for all my joy and success in life.

Second, my husband, Eli. For always supporting me and telling me to “go all-in” while also calling me out when I need to rest and take care of myself.

My closest friends: Alex, Liz, and Allison. For cheering me on and inspiring me creatively (s/o to Liz for helping me come up with my brand name!).

And lastly to anyone who has ever purchased from me and for those who promote me and loyally support me. Every single purchase means the world to me, truly.
