Check Out Drew Watkins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Watkins.

Drew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Let’s see I honestly achieved everything I ever wanted by the age of 25. I did the college thing on two separate occasions and it wasn’t for me. Ended up in the Air Force as a Crew Chief on MC-130s for 4.5 years. I got out and had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Figured I’d move to Denver and just work at cool pizza shops and travel. As time went on started seeing this show called “instachef” on YouTube and that’s when it got me thinking about doing pizza out of my garage. So, one day I finally pulled the trigger on buying myself a woodfired oven, which is Portable so it can be transported easily. That’s when things slowly started, luckily lots of people I work with are hardcore pizza dudes, and I took all their info and made it my own. So now Every Monday you can find me in my garage slinging pizzas for folks, and in the last few months been gaining a lot more traction. and starting to sell out every Monday. I do want to eventually get an actual spot, that’s a pizzashop/gamelounge Somewhere for people to come chill and eat really good pizza and play games, something nostalgic to when we were kids and Friday nights were spent at friend’s house playing games and having pizza.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some obstacles for me was learning on how to make dough with a Sourdough starter. Learning how to use social media in a business sense.

Never used a Woodfire Oven so that in itself was a fun learning curve.

Pretty Introverted so making myself be more open and social.

Always working, and not really taking time for myself to recover. if I’m not doing my pizza, I’m at work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Just making really awesome pizza, that won’t destroy your wallets.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m doing this to honor my Grandparents and Parents. They’ve worked so hard and if I can find a way to be happy and make money, I’ve figured it out.
