Conversations with the Inspiring Amanda Lovato

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lovato.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Soon after moving to Boulder in 2001, I began competing as a professional triathlete. My then-boyfriend, now husband, and I trained, competed and traveled the world together. It was a fun and adventurous life, but I had moments of wanting more and of craving greater direction and financial security.

In 2006, I decided to pursue a career in Real Estate, and at that time got my license, but only began working part-time. I would refer most of my business to a partner but learned enough of the trade to know I wanted to continue with it full time.

In 2013, I got pregnant with my daughter Valentine, and I retired from the sport. I had immediately found my “why” and knew that I wanted to immerse myself in my Real Estate career so that I could live the life I wanted, so I could provide the upbringing I wanted to offer to my daughter, and so I could further develop my passion for helping people with one of the most important decisions of their lives — buying or selling their homes.

By 2014, I had established myself in the Boulder Real Estate market and was growing my brand more rapidly than I had ever dreamed. By 2017, I was able to increase my total sales by 20-25% each year, so I chose to open my own brokerage, Lovato Properties.

2018 was a record year for me, and through half of 2019, I am already ahead of my year-end sales total from last year. I have chosen to really push myself to be the best. My goal is to deliver the best customer service and attention to detail that I would expect if I were the customer.

I truly love what I do, and it’s easy to immerse myself in the business. I have hired the most wonderful Transaction Coordinator; I have a brilliant part-time assistant that works with me; and I am currently going through the process of training my husband, who acquired his Real Estate license in 2017.

Every single day begins with me writing down what I am grateful for, as well as the dreams I am pursuing. I have found this practice very powerful, and it really is enabling me to do things with my business that I never thought were possible.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey has most certainly not been smooth! I have had many ups and downs, although to be honest, many of my struggles (lows) came via my decade-long professional triathlon career. But throughout those processes — and all the lows — I have proven to myself that I am someone who can set my mind to achieving something and then to make it happen.

I believe I have always been the type of person who can set her mind to a task and then stick it out until it is complete. Sometimes this attribute has caused me a fair bit of heartache, but it has also given me great accolades and results.

My best advice is to figure out the why and then to remember it throughout the journey. There will be ups and downs, but if you hold onto the motivation or the core reason you are pushing through to succeed, it makes the process more effective.

I am also a big believer in writing down the goals you want to achieve, every single day. With this practice, you will start to manifest the successes you are chasing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Lovato Properties story. Tell us more about it.
While my brokerage is only two years old, I have been building the Lovato Properties brand since 2014. Over these past five and a half years, I have established myself as a strong player in the Boulder Real Estate market. Ours is mostly dominated by national franchises, as well as some local companies who have long had a foothold in Boulder County.

To compete with these giants is not easy; but as a smaller company, I believe I have the ability to better serve and connect with my customers. While I have a nice team supporting me, I have always made it a point to be accessible personally when my clients need me. I do not pass off my business to anyone ever.

I specialize in selling residential properties in Boulder County, representing both sellers and buyers. While many of my sales have been in the Boulder City Limits, I do quite a bit of business in Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, Erie, and Broomfield, and Golden and Denver.

I also have a true passion for working in rural areas, as farms, farmettes, and ranches hold a special place in my heart from a personal standpoint.

But what I am most proud of is my commitment to truly exceptional customer service. Everyone who works with me will know that they are a top priority in my daily work life. Communication is paramount in my business, so I make sure that I am constantly keeping in touch with my customers.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
My favorites right now are Ed Mylett, Rachel Hollis, Tony Robbins, and Tom Ferry. There are others I mix into the rotation, but those four are my key podcasts.

With regard to books, I am currently reading “Smart Women Finish Rich,” by David Bach; and have enjoyed reading “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” by Dale Carnegie. While I do enjoy multiple topics, including some fiction books, I am always interested in working on myself, and I feel there are so many great reads out there — I am always looking for a recommendation myself!
