Conversations with the Inspiring Caity Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caity Williams.

Caity, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for body positivity started when I was planning my wedding. I was nervous to walk down the aisle and to look back at pictures and hate them and be upset about how I looked. It was around that time I also found plus size vloggers like Loey Lane and learning to be fearless and they helped me realize that I needed to change the way I looked at my self because I am more than a size, and I am more than the number on the scale. From that day going forward, I strive to promote self-love and helping women realize that the way to be happy with your self starts with loving your self and accepting all the flaws you see in your self. As women, we are our own harshest critic.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When it comes to self-love and being body positive, is it ever a smooth road? I say that with a laugh because it’s something that seems so easy, it should be easy to love your self and to look at your self in the mirror every day and say “you look awesome and who cares what the world thinks.” It’s an everyday struggle. It has been set in a society that it is not “pretty”, “sexy”, “trendy”, or “beautiful “ to be more than a size 12-14. Also as women, we just have off days. No one is body positive and has self-love every day, we all have off days and sometimes even an off month. To get past that, I go to my Go Twos! I personally will just wear my favorite outfit even if I’ve worn it a million times. If I know it’s going to make me feel better and give me that extra boost of confidence, then more power to me! And my second Go Two is to make my husband tell me at least 20 times a day I’m the hottest women he’s ever seen. 😂

What should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’ve been building myself as a brand per se for a while now. My platform is curvy fashion and body positive. I also have a targeted audience of mothers. My goal is, to be honest, and raw about everyday struggles with motherhood, women issues, marriage issues, postpartum, and body image. I want my followers to know that in this journey you are not alone. We all relate and I’m going to be the one to tell you been there done that and no need to feel guilt or shame.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I remember very vividly thru high school, the way I felt about my self and even some of the comments that where made to me from my peers. And I remember thinking I was less of a person or I couldn’t wear certain things because I had a different build. When I got older and had my own children, it was my goal to make sure my kids never felt that way. And if I could use my voice to change the way women see themselves, then I would try my hardest to do that.
