Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Roth.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my photography business six years ago. After my second daughter was born I got a deep passion for photography and started learning as much as I possibly could about every single aspect. I practiced a lot on my daughters and they have become very well photographed. 🙂 Over the years, my style has changed little by little and has improved to what it is today, which is something I have become very proud of.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not! I started my business with a two-year-old and three months old at my side practically 24/7. I was a new mom and exhausted, but I had a deep passion. One of the biggest challenges I’ve had is scheduling and boundaries. When you’re a business owner, it can completely take over your life if you let it. I’ve also had to become the CEO, marketing and SEO expert, website designer, photographer, bookkeeping guru, keeping up with the ever so changing social media marketing, customer service, and everything in between. A lot of people don’t realize that when you’re a photographer, you aren’t JUST a photographer, there is a LOT that goes on behind the scenes to sustain a business. Every business has its slow and busy seasons and you learn to plan for that.
My advice for women starting their own business is to work hard, not compare yourself to others, and set work hours (and stick to them!) Being a photographer, it was really easy to compare myself to others when I first started. I’d see so many amazing photographers across the country and would pray my work could be that good someday. I’ve never stopped pushing myself and learning every single thing that I could to make myself a better and smarter business women and photographer!
What should we know about Danielle Bond Photography? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer serving the Denver and Northern Colorado areas. I specialize in weddings, families, maternity, and newborns geared towards providing high-end imagery that capture both candid and posed moments.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my experience and knowledge, style, and branding. I have worked really hard to achieve a certain brand and style. Some of my biggest compliments have been when people say they see a photo while scrolling on social media and knew it was mine before they ever even saw my name. I am very consistent in my branding and social media presence across all channels. Another compliment I get a lot of is my lighting and posing. I have nailed down the look I want to achieve and know exactly how to get it. 🙂 One of my biggest goals during a wedding or portrait session is to not only take beautiful images, but I try my best to make sure my clients are having FUN and getting a great experience!
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I believe women have more opportunities now than they ever have before. I know a lot of successful women, whether they are the CEO of their own business or are excelling at their career. Being in the wedding industry, most of the vendors and other businesses I work with are women-owned and rocking their businesses! If you are a woman and are wanting an opportunity, go for it full force and don’t ever give up on your dreams!
