Conversations with the Inspiring Erika Lim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Lim.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erika. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in photography peaked after I took a photography class in high school. I’ve always cherished capturing special moments among friends and family through high school and college. I started my brand, Erika Dash Photography, a couple of years after nursing school as a hobby and specialized in taking lifestyle, engagement, and wedding photos. In addition to being a Full-Time Operating Room Nurse, I work with my clients on weekends which gives me the chance to meet new people and explore Denver.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve gone through phases of stopping photography due to the difficulties of balancing a full-time job and my passion. However, my passion continues to drive me and I enjoy every moment. My advice to young women who are starting off is to persevere. My father always told me, life isn’t supposed to be easy. And I can attest to that. Life puts you through tests and that’s what makes you a stronger person. It contributes to the person you are today because you pushed yourself and your limits for what you truly enjoy doing. Bottom line: Take one day at a time and hard work will pay off.

What should we know about Erika Dash Photography? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in lifestyle, engagement, and wedding photography through my brand Erika Dash Photography. I take great pride in my work since I capture candid and raw moments. I strive to make my clients comfortable posing and more natural when they aren’t used to being in front of the camera. I love scouting new locations perfect for my clients’ aesthetic. What sets me apart is I truly listen to what my clients’ vision is and collaborate with them to deliver a final product that exceeds their expectations.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
My advice is to not give up, no matter how difficult it may get–for every down there is an up. Keep persevering and it will make you a strong person.
