Conversations with the Inspiring Laura Wolfgang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Wolfgang.

Laura, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started falling in love with photography in high school, and throughout college started taking pictures of my friends getting engaged and growing their families. But it wasn’t until a few years later (after I had started my own family) that I decided to officially start my own photography business. Over the last five years since starting it, I’ve grown leaps and bounds not only in my technical abilities but also as a business owner. And I’ve loved every minute of learning and pushing myself to try new things and put myself out there. I have had the most amazing clients who continue to support my business and have also grown to be my friends, as well!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been a smooth journey. One of the biggest challenges for me is pursuing the growth of my photography business while also wanting to put my family first. My four kids and my husband mean the world to me and I never want to look back on these years and regret the way I spent my time. But one thing I’ve learned over the last five years is slow growth is not bad. So many times, I’ve had to turn away opportunities I would have loved to take, I’m reminded that its because I choose family first over my business. And that can be disappointing at times, but I have never regretted those choices later. And new opportunities always come, but the memories of my kids being their little selves are so fleeting.

What should we know about Laura Wolfgang Photography? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I love to capture natural, joyful, and elegant pictures for couples getting married and families as they grow and change. I’m known for my bright and joyful images that showcase the way people feel about each other. I’m most proud of the way I focus my brand to serve and love on my clients. I want their experience to be fun, joyful, and easy. I’m no stranger to the chaos both wedding days and families might bring, and my desire to serve and befriend my clients really makes their experience with me a fun and relaxed one!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! I have found that many other people I admire in this industry are also eager to share their experiences with you. Just being brave and reaching out never hurts when you are genuinely curious and eager to help. But above all, when you seek ways to serve other people it makes it so much easier to connect authentically with them and become friends eager to serve you back.
