Conversations with the Inspiring Lindsey Benton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Benton.

Lindsey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 2004, I moved straight to Denver and have never looked back! I moved here to sell advertising for The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News, and quickly fell head over heels in love with the city Denver and state of Colorado!

In 2005, I bought my first home in Curtis Park, and fell equally in love with home ownership! I loved owning my piece of the pie, the pride of home ownership, and the stability of knowing I could stay as long as I wanted… and never have a landlord tell me what to do or how much to pay!

Fast forward to 2012, when I turned my passion for real estate into a career and started empowering my friends, and friends of friends to make their real estate goals a reality, as well! With a goal of elevating the consumers real estate experience by mentoring and training other agents, I launched Live.Laugh.Denver. Real Estate Group in 2015.

Since then, we have grown to a team of 11 and launched Live.Laugh.RentDenver. In 2018, offering that same consultative and professional experience we offer buyers and sellers to renters looking for their home in the Denver Metro area.

I have since turned the Curtis Park condo into a rental, added a couple more rentals, a husband and a son along the way and settled into our “for a very long time home” in the Skyland neighborhood, a couple of blocks north of City Park Golf Course. I still enjoy exploring Denver one bite and drink at a time, and now consider myself a playground expert as well!

As landlords, we pride ourselves on maintaining reasonable rental rates for our tenants, treating them with respect, and of course offering options to terminate their lease if they decide homeownership is an option for them!

As a community member of NorthEast Denver, I consistently seek ways to help better our community and those in need. I am the treasurer of the Rotary Club of Five Points – RiNo, and actively contribute both monetarily and with time to organizations like Women’s Bean Project, GrowHaus and Reading Partners to name a few.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I mean, if you are willing to work seven days a week, and most hours of the day, the road will feel never-ending, but smooth enough!

Making space to start a business is so important. Launching into a real estate career is not for the faint of heart – it requires hard work, discipline and a dedication to putting your client’s goals first! My first years in the business I worked nonstop. I was constantly available to my clients, and that was exactly what I needed to do to get my start in this competitive business. Now, that I am more established, I am able to live a more balanced life, and even find some “me time” in there, and am committed to blocks each day where I put my phone on the charger and play with my son!

As far as advice, I would say…
1) Set Goals, and find a mentor and/or accountability partner to hold you to them. You cannot succeed as an entrepreneur if you are an island!
2) Get up early. If you want to beat the masses, get your day off to a great start before the masses even rise and shine!
3) Time Block! When you know your goals, you then detail it out with time blocking to make sure you get them done! Period.
4) No Excuses. I know that sounds cliched, but for real, no one wants to hear it.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As the founder and owner of Live.Laugh.Denver. Real Estate Group., I lead a team of financially independent agents who serve the community by helping clients build long-term wealth through real estate. Additionally, I serve clients directly and help buyers and sellers make their goals a reality. I value the quality of my relationships and interactions, prioritizing communication, education, and transparency. My heightened level of empathy serves as an advantage to my clients and agents. I deeply understand the motivators on each side of a negotiation, allowing me to get the best deal done for my clients and offer the best advice possible to my agents.

As a business owner and broker, I promise both my agents and clients direct, objective and honest communication, professional experience and of course some laughs along the way! Through building long-term relationships with clients and agents, I empower them to continually set and reach their real estate goals as they buy, sell and transform their piece of the Denver pie.

I am most proud of the elevated level of service and professionalism Live.Laugh.Denver. agents offer our clients and all parties throughout the real estate transaction. I am proud of each and every one of my agents for the way she decides to positively impact the community she loves! I am proud to have partnered with a long time colleague and friend to launch the RentDenver division, serving renters with the same level of professionalism we offer buyers and sellers.

I am also proud to lead with education and empowerment when it comes to helping clients make their real estate goals a reality. We offer complimentary classes throughout the year with a focus on educating Coloradans on making homeownership a reality, building a rental empire, and any other financial education that makes sense for our community. These classes are an amazing way to connect with our community and offer education with no strings attached!
