Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Elvrum.
Megan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my blog The Nerdy Girlie seven years ago because I was excited about San Diego Comic Con and its community. Since then, it’s grown into featuring my personal life including my divorce in 2015. I love sharing my struggles, triumphs and favorite things on my blog. It is a great way to connect with others and help people not feel alone in what they are going through!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I love my blog, photography and making meaningful connections. That is why I do it. It is an outlet for me to share my creativity where it is hard to share creativity sometimes. Having your own personal place to do that is so liberating! It has been tough and there has been a lot of changes on my site, but I am happy where it is, where it is going and how it makes me feel!
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve been a photographer since I graduated from Penn State in 2005. I’ve always loved expressing myself through photography and the joy it can bring my clients. I am proud to have grown and continue to always strive to be better. I try to set myself apart from not only using photography as a means of communication but also my words. As a journalism major, words are very important to me. I love sharing everything about myself. It helps me through hard times and I hope that it helps others who think they might be going through something no one understands.
