Conversations with Will Duran

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Duran.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We’re a Synth-Pop Trio based out of Northern Colorado consisting of a producer, vocalist, and drummer. The band has been making music together for 10+ years and we’re continuing to hone our sound we just have a creative drive to make the best music possible.

We create everything in-house from the art to our own studio recordings including mixing and mastering. We put out an EP then put out another 7 songs during the pandemic and now we’re focused on making an album.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. We had a brief hiatus from when we first started making music together because Sam (producer) went to serve in the army. I (Will-Vocalist) moved to Denver for a bit and Tom (Drummer) stayed up North.

We always stayed in contact and we were all still really close friends. I was working on a solo project in Denver but I found I really wasn’t the best when it came to the production side of things and just wanted to write songs Sam was out of the army so we linked up again through a Facebook post and decided to make songs together again.

So we added Tom as the drummer and rebranded the group as the NGHT WLVS and that’s when we really started to hit the ground running crafting our EP and subsequent songs thereafter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our music is a mix of styles with a heavy emphasis on synths and fun catchy choruses. We always wanted to create music that says something but that you can also dance to.

We’re proud of our independence and how we are building this thing from the ground up and constantly trying to improve ourselves in all aspects. I think the thing that sets us apart is our drive to create the best music, we love what we do and we’re not just bandmates but real friends as well.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Riding bikes and Halo LAN parties.
