Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Macias, the woman behind Brianna Macias & Company.
Brianna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Over ten years ago, a friend asked me to do her makeup for her wedding day. Even though I had been doing makeup for friends over the years, I was so hesitant to work in the wedding industry (I blame the movies and bridezilla storylines). I finally agreed and I instantly felt a connection to all of my brides. Just being a part of a day, they would never forget made it much more special. I knew I was called to do this but at the time, I was in Property Management and focusing on a career in Marketing…so I had to trust that God would lead me there when I was ready.
As the years passed, I continued my corporate career while I started building a small but mighty team of artists in Southern California. Then I took a quick trip to Colorado and when I tell you it took my breath away…I cried coming back home because I knew that was my next adventure and new home. Out of God’s timing and maybe even fear, I sat on that decision for a few years until one day I said farewell to a corporate Marketing career of ten years. I went back to school to get licensed in Esthetics to rebuild my makeup career in Colorado. A few months after getting licensed, I packed my bags and moved to a new state all by myself.
It has been the most humbling experience because even as a seasoned artist back home, I had to prove myself during the most difficult year of my life (2020, need I say more?!) Flash forward to now, I have a team of trusted & talented artists in California that take care of the “BMC Brides” while I hold it down in Colorado where I am currently building another small but mighty team!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think that the scariest thing I could do was leave an established business to move to another state and start over from scratch because things I did to make us successful in the LA/OC market were not going to work the same in Denver. We also can’t forget that I decided to make this change six weeks before a global pandemic – I had to navigate through these changes and a new market very quickly just like everyone else. However, the impact of 2020 has made 2021 + 2022 the biggest years for the team. So, I can say that these bumps did not break me but instead made me realize that I grew a passion to help all of these incredible small businesses that flourished from said pandemic. These challenges turned into opportunities to expand beyond weddings so I slightly switched my focus from weddings to brand photoshoots and I’m so glad it did because I have met some incredible women-led businesses along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Whether you’re getting ready on your wedding day or launching a new brand…This is YOUR day and you should feel confident in the beauty team you hire. We know what products to use to enhance your best features but more importantly, our brides and brands know that we bring professionalism, punctuality, and an easy-going personality. When you work with me or the BMC team, it’s like you’re with a friend aka your beauty BFF…you shouldn’t just love your makeup, you should also FEEL your best and we want to give that experience to each client too!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Experiencing life, the way I always wanted to…not waiting for people, but instead enjoying the days as they come. I may not know the fanciest places to dine, or stay at the nicest resorts but I’ve been known to drive to National Parks just for stargazing or booking a random skydive adventure with a stop at my favorite coffee shop. Building Brianna Macias & Co has allowed me the freedom and flexibility to live such a life and I know all of this is possible with God by my side!
Being far away from home and my family can get hard but loving to travel back and forth for clients in California has made it easy for me to be around my family & friends. I’m just so thankful for the ones that have supported me and my dream…and when I want to give up, I remember that my abuelitos left Mexico for the United States to follow a dream and made it happen by working hard, creating memories, and experiencing life. So, on that note…remember who you are, never settle and make it happen mija!
