Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Cowden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Cowden.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Jess, Owner and Lead Planner at Aesthetic Event Planning. My path really began in high school, when I attended Esthetics School through Red Rocks College’s Warren Tech School. I trained with wedding makeup artists and discovered a passion for love and beauty. I moved to S Florida at the age of twenty-one to begin Nursing school at Nova Southeastern University, well nursing school was not for me. I began working at yacht parties and coordinating events. While continuing esthetics on the side, I really began to dive into the event industry. I moved back home to Colorado four years ago; where I met my husband and my step-kiddos. I began to settle down and really think about what I was passionate about. I started my company in the pandemic focusing on Elopements and Microwedding and we took off, being featured in Colorado Wedding Collective Digital Magazine and now this magazine. Our company has grown, we now have two, maybe three here soon planners on our team. We also have a fully staffed setup/ strike crew. I truly believe wedding planning was what the stars had aligned for me. I left my career as an esthetician two months ago to completely dive into the event world and weddings.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that with every reward, there is a test along the way. Nothing great is given freely. I have had some of the toughest years these past three years, but they have also been the most rewarding. I have experienced the loss of loved ones, people not believing in my dreams or not understanding/ supporting my path. The hardest thing was self-doubt when times were hard; however, this is what I learned the most from. The only thing holding ourselves back is ourselves. Keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I completely say find a mentor! Or someone or multiple of individuals who inspire you. Individuals who you see making their dreams happen. I have several, that I have found through inspiring work, dedication and passion. I love my boss babes out there!
