Daily Inspiration: Meet Julie Kim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Kim.

Hi Julie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career as a hairstylist and learned Microblading, thinking it will be my side hustle. But the Microblading part of my business slowly took off and I transitioned to a full-time PMU Brow artist/Trainer. I quickly became busier and also started teaching Microblading for a big company so I traveled all over the US and to different countries to teach brows.

As I got busier with brows, I realized that many clients need to remove their old brows to get fresh ones done. So after researching many removal methods, I learned a few different techniques, one of them being laser. I attended the Laser college to get certified and learn more about laser and while I was in school I became intrigued with the industry and decided to expand my brow business into a full-service spa that offers both.

After searching the market for about a year, we found this beautiful space on 15th & Platte and after a long negotiation, we finally got our space. The project took about 1 year. We signed the lease in January and opened our doors on 12/12/2022.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My expertise is working on people’s eyebrows. Tattooing them. So everything else was so new to me. The whole process of getting the place, finding an SBA loan, and the whole construction process. Delays after delays were discouraging and at one point I thought we would never be able to open.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Semi-Permanent Brow tattooing. I am known for my “wispy” natural style of brows. I am proud of my career. I slowly started my career on my own. I had to learn different techniques from different people worldwide and practice day and night to master my technique. Now I am traveling and people from different cities come to me to learn my technique. I also spoke at a big pmu conference in Vegas in October in front of thousands of people.

I feel like what sets me apart is that I have so much experience and different experiences than other Denver artists in this industry. I taught and took clients all over us and in other countries like Europe, Asia, and New Zealand. And I have students who learned from me and offer my technique all over the world.

What makes you happy?
My job makes me happy. I get to make people beautiful on the outside and also feel good inside. All of our clients leave to boost self-confidence. I get to teach other people my technique so my students can do the same.

Also my family. My boyfriend Ryan has helped me so much. Without him, I would not have been able to expand my business into this big spa. My 2-year son has been the best thing that has ever happened to us and that is why we worked so hard on this project.
