Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndra Georgeson.

Hi Kyndra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My passion for interior design began at an early age when I found myself constantly switching up my Barbie house and having my mom make bedding and curtains to accessorize- and downplay- all the pink. As I grew older, I would sneak items from around my childhood home to rearrange my bedroom, almost weekly. I loved the process of blending objects, textures, and colors in a room to fit the way I felt. This desire to “create spaces” only grew stronger, so I turned it into my career.

I received my Degree in Interior Design from Kansas State University and headed to beautiful Colorado. After several years working for local design firms, including the furniture manufacturer Knoll, and meeting my handy husband, I knew it was time to do my own thing. In 2004, I opened Platinum Design Studio which successfully serviced residential and commercial clients throughout metro Denver. Thirteen years later, my husband Larry left his teaching career, got his GC license and we expanded and rebranded our business to encompass everything we offer under the name Georgeson Style. I continue to lead all interior design projects; Larry runs the construction side of the biz and we also have our passion project: Kyndred™. Kyndred is an online curated shop of interior accessories and products hand-picked from quality manufacturers around the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and no. We work as a great team. We have a lot of fun every day with our clients and our subcontractors. We love what we do, but there have been challenges, especially with growing as fast as we have and trying to keep up and hiring outside help. We definitely would not trade working for ourselves for any other way of life, as it allows us the freedom to be with our teens and have the family time we want, however, some nights all we can do is laugh and say… tomorrow will be better!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Georgeson Style is a design/build firm that specializes in interior full-home remodels, kitchen and bath design, and basement finishing. I am a trained and accredited Interior Designer and Larry is a certified General Contractor. With our team of experts, we approach every build/remodel seamlessly, from start to finish. Our goal with every project is to merge your unique style with quality materials that fit within your budget. We also aim to create a space that you never want to leave. While I have a distinct style and look I love, your home is meant to reflect you and how your family lives, so it is all about what you want and your style. No project should ever look like someone else’s- your family is unique and your home should be as well.

We are unique in that when you hire GeorgesonStyle you get both the design and the general contracting under one roof- there is no need to go elsewhere looking for separate services. We handle everything in house so less mistakes happen, less hassle for the client and we try and take as much stress off the homeowners’ as possible.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Plan. Plan. Plan- and take a lot of deep breaths along the way. We thought our business would suffer greatly when the shutdown happened back in March of 2020 and the exact opposite has happened- we have never been busier. It seems people suddenly realized how important their homes are to them, and the need for more finished space, or to have their existing homes function better and more beautifully was more crucial than ever. Except… now there are limited products and the delays on supplies are insane… so, it is a dance every day. So… planning is key!
