Exploring Life & Business with Gillian Edwards of Four Paws Holistic Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gillian Edwards.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? Growing up in England and living on three continents provided me with an understanding of how traditional, alternative, and holistic therapies can work together to help heal the mind, body, and spirit of humans and animals. I began my holistic journey practicing Reiki on human clients, achieving the level of Reiki Master/Teacher and receiving Karuna and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) certifications.

It was several years ago while providing in-person Reiki for a human client, I realized my ability to communicate with animals when the client’s dog began to communicate directly with me. I decided to expand my services and become practiced and certified as an Animal Communicator.

I am also a Canine Massage Instructor and practitioner and as such a member of International Association of Animal Massage & Body Works (IAAMB) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).

I continue to keep up with the latest research, learning as much as I can to bring a holistic cooperative approach to animal well-care, sharing nutrition and environmental tips with animal lovers to help them care for their companions while working with other practitioners and the animal’s veterinarians to achieve optimal physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Once I decided to leave Corporate America, things fell into place quickly. Following my purpose and passion opened several doors for me and provided me with the fulfillment I was missing working for a corporation.

The initial struggle was people didn’t necessarily understand energy work, or even how it could work remotely. Whereas the hands-on approach of massage was tangible, as a majority of people have had a massage at some point, thus understand the types of massage, and the benefits for maintaining good health and mobility. I, therefore, switched gears to focus on massage and conditioning for pets.

With the pandemic, and having to safely close my location for a while, my business did a 180, and Energy Work and Animal Communication became my main service. People were adopting pets and didn’t understand behaviors, anxiety, health issues, wanted to know their history, help them settle into their new homes, and generally wanted to build stronger bonds with them…

We’ve been impressed with Four Paws Holistic Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I provide in-person and remote holistic healing solutions for animals and their human companions. Working locally in the Denver, Colorado area, nationally and internationally, I take a cooperative approach to animal well-care, with a deep understanding of how holistic therapies can enhance and complement traditional and alternative veterinary therapies.

With the belief that holistic animal therapy is centered on love, empathy, and respect, I use my knowledge and skills to help improve an animal’s health and happiness, which can strengthen and deepen their connections to their human companions. Using a combination of animal communication, canine massage, and remote or in-person energy healing work, I help animals activate their natural ability to balance and heal their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Pets who are on a wellness plan with me are seen regularly, which means I can monitor changes and catch issues early before they become major expensive challenges. Understanding body mechanics, and being able to communicate with pets can help to quickly narrow down what is causing them concern.

I work in collaboration with veterinarians and other pet modalities, especially before and after surgery, or for palliative, end of life care. I also help puppies settle down, ground, and become used to being touched.

For long-term physical care, I offer package deals or two pet discounts.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am a professed animal lover and adoption advocate, rescuing numerous pets throughout my lifetime. This includes Zena, an 8-year young Rotti/Lab/Aussie Shepherd mix who not only pushed me to share my passion for making a positive difference in the lives of animals and their parents, she is also the Director of Research and Development at Four Paws Holistic Therapy.
