Exploring Life & Business with Glauber Dos Santos of Bokeh Wedding Films

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glauber Dos Santos.

Hi Glauber, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My life trajectory has a series of overcoming since the beginning. I was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. I was raised and educated by my mother and sister and I had to live with the absence of my father since the beginning, but I confess that the adversities that were always present in my life made me become a fighter to change the reality around me.

When I was approximately 10 years old, I needed to help my family to pay the bills for the house, and it was at that age that I started my entrepreneurial journey. I started selling candies and sodas in downtown (Belo Horizonte/Brazil) to help my mother and family. At the age of 12, I received a scholarship to learn English and in fact, I never knew that this opportunity would be essential to my achievements in the future

From 12 to 18 years old, I started practicing taekwondo and it was something that contributed a lot because it helped me to stay away distance from all the negative environment because I lived in an area of social vulnerability where young people start to get involved with drugs, robberies and consequently being arrested or dead at a very young age. Taekwondo helped me to walk a different path than some friends who died early because of wrong decisions.

At the age of 16, I got an opportunity to volunteer in a church to photograph and film church services. This opportunity was crucial for me to leap from a professional perspective. It was from this opportunity that I was able to change my reality, I went to college and studied advertising, I also studied in a college in the United States that had always been a dream and I also had the opportunity to go to Italy and be part of a group of students at Fabrica ( Fabrica is the Benetton Group communications research center ), returning to Brazil I finished a postgraduate degree course in business administration.

Today I live in the United States, I continue to work as a photographer/videographer, manage a video production company, and also own another venture in the flooring segment. My trajectory has always been one of overcoming obstacles, but the main reason for me to change the reality of my life was when I was playing soccer with some friends on the street and at a certain moment someone said the following word: Well, my father told me that you would be nothing in life.

Those words were the most motivating words for me to change the reality of my life. I’m not a billionaire with a lot of properties and investment portfolios but being alive and leaving the conditions I was born in is the greatest achievement and everything that will come later is just a detail. My last words are that you always believe in yourself, and don’t allow anyone to define your winning path. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Proverbs 23; 7.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No journey is smooth, for some people maybe it is but for most the journey is never smooth. Challenges always exist, some challenges are bigger than others but resilience is necessary for all of them. Life is a struggle and the secret is never to lose hope, although each day has become more and more difficult with so many adversities at the same time. Everything passes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bokeh Wedding Films?
Today I have a video production company specializing in wedding videos. Being in the market for over 15 years and having worked with advertising videos, the work I develop in wedding videos has a more cinematographic perspective. I know how important the moments and recording of such a special date are, so I always try to record each moment to become a valuable memory and attribute all the necessary qualities.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Denver is a charming city, it reminds me a lot of the city where I was born, Belo Horizonte. The Colorado mountains have a very special meaning for me and the snowboarding, hiking, and soccer activities are sensational. Traffic becomes more and more chaotic and this is the side that I don’t like so much but it is part of the development of large cities, the interesting thing is that we may have more forms of urban mobility in the future.
