Exploring Life & Business with Kelli Starbuck of Star Strategy Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Starbuck.

Hi Kelli, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my business in April of 2021, after working in a large corporate digital agency and then as a marketing manager. I learned that there is a discrepancy between large digital agencies and the customer experience that small businesses are looking for. When I was a marketing manager, I started working WITH the agency that I had worked FOR which gave me a unique understanding of the agency/client relationship from both sides and inspired me to become a digital marketing resource for solopreneurs and small businesses. I am a Colorado native, as are both of my parents, and they are also small business owners. Helping small, local businesses is highly personal to me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think my path to get to where I am now has had a very natural trajectory. There were bumps along the way like expanding outside of my immediate referral network, but for the most part, it has been smooth sailing. All of my clients are relieved to be having the marketing experience that they are, they know that I am available and transparent and those qualities have helped me grow my business in a consistent and meaningful way. The largest hurdle I faced is having the confidence and motivation to actually get started – it took almost a full year to really feel like I knew what I was doing and could confidently sell my services, although my campaigns were showing success well before that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Star Strategy Marketing was founded on a new-age interpretation of the old quote, “Shoot for the moon, and if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” In 2022, we know that the only people on the moon are billionaires, and the stars are far more unique and expansive. I specialize in SEO and social media fulfillment, but also offer a popular consultation service for people who want to take control of their own SEO campaigns. My ultimate mission is to give small businesses the same tools that big businesses have been using for years to succeed without compromising their budget or making them feel like all their eggs are in one basket. I exclusively work with small businesses, I prefer to work with companies with 10 employees or less, although the majority of my client base is between 1-5 employees. I am most proud of the quality of clients I have attracted – it’s easy to make a business all about money, but a lot of my clients are focused on their customer’s quality of life, whether they will be revenue generators or not. I work with social and community-minded organizations that understand the importance of creating a personalized experience for everyone who encounters your business. My full list of services is as follows: Local SEO, Organic SEO, Social Media Management, Content Creation, SEO Consultation, Content Consultation, and One-Time SEO Optimizations. I also offer PPC and programmatic advertising options through strategic partnerships.

How do you think about happiness?
I’m a big “little wins” gal. I think that everything in this life takes work and intention, and in order to see and feel progress, I think little wins are crucial. Finished a task that’s been on your to-do list for a few weeks? Win! Getting 10 minutes of house maintenance in on a busy day? Win! After Noticing and celebrating little wins in my personal and professional life has helped me find happiness in so many places.

Outside of that, my cat, dog, husband, fresh air, and a good lager make me happiest!
