Inspiring Conversations with Sanitra Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanitra Thomas.

Hi Sanitra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Sanitra Thomas. I am the Executive Director for Kode Blvck The Redevelopment Brand Incorporations. I took my purpose and passion combined the two together to create a Mental Health Awareness Brand for the youth and teens.

Our mission is to promote the welfare of people through the arts. We are a small and growing organization for the youth and teens with mental health issues of anger, stress, anxiety, and depression. In 2021, we reconnected with the community with our Book Club Experience to promote reading and character building. This year we rolled out our 6 Step Community Summer program called Join The Youth Club to give the youth a platform to openly speak about Mental Health.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Easy, not for real! This is probably the most work I’ve done in my entire life. Lol

Nonprofits are a lot of paperwork. I did not know all I was getting myself into. I dont come from a background filled with community leaders or role models that were able to point me in the right direction when I was establishing the foundation for the organization. I was faced with a lot of adversity or the lack of in many situations but I had a goal and vision in mind so I stuck to it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer a variety of mental health and therapeutic development programs that promotes art and technology as a creative solution when forming a common thread of meaningful change.

What’s next?
I would love to do after-school care for students. I’m crossing my fingers on the process but that is our primary focus right now.
