Life and Work with Katie Bradshaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Bradshaw.

Katie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my business when I was 18 at the same time, I was going to school for my Associate’s Degree in photography and working part-time. It was a lot of juggling, but I powered through it and was able to go full-time three years after that.

I’m forever grateful that the passion I found in my first photography class in high school has allowed me to build a successful business and really love what I do for a living!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. Being an entrepreneur is a challenge; wearing all the hats for your company. Meaning, marketing, accounting, customer service, all on top of building the business and continually improving on your skills. I had to learn to let go and outsource some tasks, manage my time better so that I could enjoy some personal time and invest in myself through continued education.

My advice would be to find a mentor, someone you respect and admire and reach out to them. A mentor has a wealth of knowledge they can share that will make your journey go so much more smoothly. A good mentor will be willing to share their mistakes and minimize the pitfalls that come with entrepreneurship.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with KB Digital Designs – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a wedding, boudoir and portrait photographer. My client reviews suggest I’m known for my customer service and client relationships which makes me feel good. I do invest in my clients and enjoy working with them over and over. Many of my clients have become really good friends over the years.

I’m most proud of my work with a very special non-profit organization here in Colorado. Kenzi’s Causes has a very special place in my heart, and I volunteer my services to them for many of their fundraising events each year for the last nine years.

A new passion of mine is boudoir. I love bringing out the best in women, helping them to see their beauty and build their confidence. It’s so empowering for them and completely rewarding for me.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think women can capitalize on opportunities that allow us to utilize our inherent multi-tasking and management skills that were born with. Whether those skills are utilized in a corporate setting or in our own business, our biggest challenge many times is ourselves. Building confidence early on and continually working on that throughout our adult life will lead to success in anything we pursue. We are worthy!
