Life and Work with Tina Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Jones.

Tina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After working in Corporate America for almost 14 years, I took a leap of faith to transform myself from just a makeup enthusiast to an actual career as a professional artist. While attending school to obtain this license, I also fell in love with skincare. It was then that I knew I had to provide corrective skin treatments to bring out the natural beauty of the skin and use makeup to just enhance the beauty.

After successfully completing school, I set out to get some on the job experience working at a spa, but I knew this would only be temporary as I had my entrepreneurial mindset on starting my own business. I worked for about six months at other establishments and then I stepped out on my own; my house would be the first office. This lasted for about two months I became restless; I knew that if I could get into my own space I would be taken more seriously and perhaps increase my clientele. I started off I spa suite and a year and a half later, I graduated to my own storefront with a lovely bright sign that lets everyone know where I’m located. My journey is not yet complete, but I’m on my grind to change the perception of beauty.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been long and tough thus far. The map to success that I thought I had, ended up leading down the unbeaten path. I’ve had to invest money that I didn’t have, I spent hours getting my business paperwork together and not to mention fighting with my computer to build a website. The sleepless nights and countless time spent on marketing ideas through social media endeavors made me want to quit every day, but I was destined for greater and I pressed through. My advice to the young women out there is to find your niche in the industry you decide to jump into and let perseverance be your guiding light.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with FaceMode The Skin & Beauty Studio – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Being a spiritual person that believes in God, I like to lean on His biblical teachings to guide my steps and I listen to the likes of Tony Evans, Dr. Miles Monroe and many others for spiritual inspiration. I also like to read books/articles that will help me recognize my weaknesses and build my character in those areas. One book that comes to mind is ”Quiet” by Susan Cain; this book outlines the ways an introverted person like myself can operate in an extroverted way without losing my true essence. In my industry you have to be personable and caring; after all, being invited into an individual’s space and being allowed to provide such an intimate service requires me to come out of my shell.
