Meet Angela Rohr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Rohr.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Bella Lu Floral in 2010 with faith and a lot of love for flowers! My husband is really the one who urged me to step back into the creative field and without knowing that this was my “calling” all along; jumped head first into flowers! A friend of a friend was getting married and knew that I had plans to start exploring floral design with a small floristry school in Denver. The couple hired me without a single day of flowering in my history! With that wedding and all the referrals from it, I was off and running! It was the beginning of the most amazing, hard and soul-filling adventure I could ever imagine!

I’ve spent each year growing myself and my business. Trends have come and gone in those short 9 years and I’m always so excited about what comes next. I’ve had so many amazing clients and some are still friends today! It’s a true honor to be a part of the first day of marriage and I take seriously creating the most dream-filled days for each of these people. One of my goals from day one was to truly connect with people, connect and embrace who they are and where they are in life. I wanted to get to know them, their stories and how to make sure that their wedding or event was a true reflection of them and the kind of day they’ve dreamed of. I hope that they are as excited to see me on the wedding day as I am to see them!

I remember so well the very first time that my work was published and I could hardly believe it! My first cover of a magazine; I had to pinch myself! Each time that work is published in a magazine, blog or article online; it’s an honor. I think each of these things has lead to what came next in my business and how it has grown. Today, I’m being as focused as ever to capture the right clients, design the most beautiful weddings and enjoy the chance to have my hands in buckets of magnificent flowers as much as possible.

I’ve learned A LOT. Made lots of mistakes. Been frustrated. Been over-the-moon HAPPY. Created many dream weddings and hugged as many brides as I could. Done happy dances. Kissed Mother nature and her beautiful flowers many times. Talked to flowers. Cried about flowers. Been burned-out and sad. Watched my kiddos grow and shown them daily the hustle, the hard work AND that dreams can come true.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not always been smooth, but I am of the mindset that if I’m not learning and growing from each experience, then I’m not getting better. Challenges and opportunities inspire me! Hopefully, each “bump” that we’ve had, has given us the chance to get better, be more prepared, grow and move forward.

When you work in a creative field, there are lots of times when a person has to stop and reevaluate the path. We realize that we need to recharge and reset in order to get better. This gives us a chance to creatively start fresh and find new inspirations where we may not have seen them before.

Please tell us about Bella Lu Floral & Event Design.
When I started Bella Lu Floral, I really had no idea where my little love for flowers and art might go, and had only hoped that one day, I’d be able to create for a wedding or large event. With an art background, entrepreneurial mind, and love for design, I quickly advanced this business to cover more than just flowers.

Today, we are a full-service floral and event design company that specializes in weddings and events. We start with ideas from our clients and build them into dreams and realizations for each event/couple. Most of the clients that seek us out want direction with fresh ideas on how to make their day feel connected to them and special for their guests. I think this is part of what sets us apart from others. I strive for an organic connection to my clients and spend many hours getting to know them, their wants, needs, hopes, and dreams for this special day. My connection to the client is as important as my connection to the designs themselves! I work hard to listen intently, ask engaging questions that help me get to know who are clients truly are and what makes them tick!

Our designs are full, lush, whimsical and organic in structure. I love anything that feels garden-like, romantic and chances to see the beauty of what each bloom has become. Flowers seem to speak to me when I’m designing and as I assemble each arrangement, ask each bloom to show her individual beauty and also be collaborative with her neighbors. One of my favorite quotes is “A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms.” I appreciate each piece in my approach to design and spend hours choosing elements that help compliment one another to fit within the overall design and day.

I’m most proud of the work that we have designed for our couples and the chance to be a part of each of these wedding days/events. I love when clients want to introduce me to the family and make sure they know that I’ve created the flowers for the day. I love hugs at the end of the event from over-the-moon happy brides and grooms. I love the first moment when I arrive with a brides bouquet and watching as they enter into the reception space for the first time. I’ve been moved to tears with hugs, sweet words, kind emails, and gushy post-wedding gifts and notes. It’s just the best job and adventure I could have really ever asked for.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a single thing! Every person I met led me to the next opportunity or the next client in my journey.

Each event was a learning opportunity for how I can be better at what I love. Each time I get a new inquiry, I see it as a chance to grow and experience this magical business in a new way. Nope! I wouldn’t trade even my toughest days!
