Meet Annelise Rothe of Simply Petals Flowers in Highlands Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annelise Rothe.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve loved flowers since I was a little girl, and even before starting my business I constantly was buying grocery store flowers and arranging them. I knew one day I wanted to own a flower shop or work with flowers in some way, but thought that dream was far off, little did I know it would happen sooner than I thought.

I started Simply Petals three years ago, after having my first daughter. I quit my office job to stay home with her and, after moving back to Denver, decided I should follow my dreams and open the flower business I’ve always dreamed of. I run the business from my home so I can be home with my girls as much as possible. For the first few years, I did daily deliveries around the Highlands Ranch area and quickly gained a reputation for my arrangements. I believe no two arrangements should ever be the same, and people responded to that. My customers loved my unique designs.

During those few years, I was hired for multiple events and weddings and have loved every day of it. After having my second daughter in November of 2018, I decided to move my business to be weddings and events only, so as to spend more time with her.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning your own business and running it from home with two little ones is never easy. There are some days when I don’t know how I will get it all done. Making the arrangements, to buying the flowers, to delivering them it is all me. I’ve had to learn how to juggle it all, and am still learning.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Simply Petals Flowers story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in wedding flowers, and I think what sets me apart from others is the design of each arrangement or piece I make. I put my heart into each one and I never make the same arrangement twice and I pride myself on that. I look at each arrangement as a piece of art and when working with brides for their weddings I make a point to create a relationship with them, I want to be the easiest part of their wedding day.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would definitely say I’m lucky. I have an amazing husband and family who support me in my dreams and who help me accomplish them. But my business is also what it is due to a lot of hard work and even more love. You can’t run your own small business without love.
