Meet Baylee Robinson of Rebel Salon in Rino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Baylee Robinson.

Baylee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Rebel salon basically started because we were sick of working at other people’s salons who weren’t like-minded as us. As a booth renter, we wanted to be able to have the freedom to run our own businesses, create our own schedule, and have the creative flexibility an artist in this profession craves.. That’s harder to find then one would think, so we got sick of working at others salons and decided to start our own. We want to be a place where not only people love to come to get their hair done and hang out but we also want the stylist to love coming to work there and be proud of it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any business who has been around for sometime would ever say it was a smooth road. Even though we haven’t had insane things happen, we have had to move spaces a few times because things weren’t as promised to peoples ideas change and the salon shifts a bit. Every time the salon has had to move locations it has always been a good thing in the end. The salon has been open, going on 11 years this October so even though things aren’t always easy that says something for itself!

Please tell us more about Rebel Salon.
We at rebel want to create a high-end salon experience without the snobby attitude. When you walk through the doors, we hope that it’s inviting and relaxing as you get your hair done. You will always be offered a cold beer or glass of wine on us while getting your hair done. We specialize in all things hair. We love doing funky color to a beautiful lived in balayage. A short haircut to a long shag.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
This is quite the question! I had a wonderful childhood with lots of friends, busy in all my kid activities, but I think maybe my favorite thing about my childhood is how we always had people around us. Im from a family of 4 kids and my mom also had a daycare. My house was the house everyone wanted to hang out at. We always had a full house of people, with all the yummy snacks and best company. It truly showed me the value of community and how amazing it is to always have good people around. It’s the best to get to share life moments with the people who care about you most and in a lot of ways, I think I love having my shop for the same reasons! It’s so awesome to have an open door for anyone who needs an ear for listening, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to laugh with.
