Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Fox.
Since Blooming Footprint’s inception in 2009, Katie Fox, her business partner Amy Kliever, and their team have produced a prolific amount of logos and brands, websites, marketing campaigns along with PR and event promotion for a wide range of clients. Katie got her Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kansas and moved into sales and marketing in the health club and spa industry soon thereafter. Feeling the power of entrepreneurship, she moved into the startup world where she worked at four different companies, then transitioned into business for herself.
Katie focuses on Marketing Technology to maximize her client’s exposure using a variety of clever and inventive angles to build an integrated marketing strategy. She also has a big place in heart for non-profit work and is also the Marketing Director for ‘Leaving a Positive Legacy’, where the mission is to integrate music and service to benefit people and the environment. Working in conjunction with Cloud 9 Adventures, partner organizations and a collective of creative leaders, Positive Legacy coordinates environmental and humanitarian service projects fueled by the power of music.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Blooming Footprint used to offer many services and worked for anyone who came along looking for help. Now we are very true to our passion for music and only work for touring bands, music festival and venues.
We offer what we have now coined “Tour Campaign Management” and only work for bands that are on the road 50+ days a year…which in itself is a challenge! There is always a show that needs attention, a guest list that needs to be submitted, a band’s photo being used with a past member that needs fixing…you get where I’m going with this. It’s a never-ending mix of content development plus the management of the many personalities and egos we have to wade through working as closely as we do with artists, managers and agents alike.
In festival land, we only align ourselves with teams that are working to “green” their footprints and are positively impacting people’s lives with the addition of things like yoga, workshops, healing, art, and permaculture. The festival landscape is very competitive and with the festival season being all year round now, we are always knee-deep in a big production with its own set of daily challenges.
Tell us more about your business.
I kind of nodded to this in the previous section, but we offer a very specific service in the live music sector, “Tour Campaign Management”. So on the literal bus it takes to get a band out and on the road, we sit in a very specific seat on said bus. We are constantly creating and pushing content to sell tickets, create a brand & engaging content all while we build and grow the audience.
I hate talking about myself, but as someone who works in PR and advertising, I am very proud that we built this company from the pure passion we have for live music while helping our clients get more visibility both on and off the stage!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My business partner Amy is my constant inspiration as she takes our visions and turns them into living and breathing art and websites that allow our clients to grow and be seen. I wish she lived closer, but we have done all of this living on different continents and I wouldn’t trade her for the world!
My Operations Manager Erin is always there for me. If I’m overwhelmed or just over the moon about a new client, she is always there when I need her…plus she is my favorite person to go see shows with!
And then there is the rest of my talented, passionate and dedicated staff. Without them, I would never have been able to grow Blooming Footprint to what it has become today!
