Hi Cady, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
Hi There! I’m Cady, pronounced like Katie. I am a social butterfly with an entrepreneurial spirit and over 14 years experience working for both small and large companies of various industries.
I was “that intern” in 2007 at a rapidly growing start-up when Facebook first launched brand pages for businesses. While obtaining my B.A. and MBA, I fell in love with the infinite possibilities of connecting with customers through social media and I have never looked back.
I view social media as a 24/7 party with guests just waiting to be informed and entertained. My goal is to entertain these guests, your targeted customers, by providing exactly what they want to hear from your business at the right time. This experience transforms your previously disengaged customers into super fans and influencers allowing you to achieve greater, sustainable business results.
How did you help your clients pivot during COVID-19?
My client’s Instagram accounts became their websites and go-to for real-time information and updates for customers. I also created private Facebook Groups for a few clients where we were able to cultivate and connect even deeper with customers during the pandemic. We had virtual live music and other relevant events. Members of the group get notified with new posts versus not seeing organic content posted to business pages on Facebook. Now I am able to market directly to these Members that are even more emotionally connected to the brand/business. When things started to open up for some clients, I created events that supported the community and brought a bit of joy to customers. I also made sure to share safety information through guidelines as well as images to make them feel comfortable again.
How do you see social marketing evolve post COVID-19?
If social media was a “nice to have’ before COVID-19, it is an absolute ‘must have’ now. People go to Instagram just as they do google to find information about a business. They also want to see beyond products and services, they want to see values and experiences at the business.
Why should businesses hire a social marketing consultant to manage their social media strategy?
Social Media is Marketing. There needs to be strategy. It is creative and technical. Facebook, Instagram, etc are the channels. Yes, people use those channels personally, but that is not marketing. My advice is to make sure you work with someone that understands your brand, they should be posting as if it is coming from you or your business voice. Dont’ forget, social media is social, be sure to engage with your customers if you’d like them to engage with you.
How can businesses ease the transition of their customers post COVID-19 using social media?
Businesses can make sure customers know about their safety practices with language as well as images that show the experience – indoors and outdoors.
What does your tag line, “Let’s Get Social” mean to you?
Social Media is a channel to connect, to have 2-way communication, to be social. Brands that just post and leave will not likely make any friends. Brands need to connect and build relationships.
How can social media help to bring back businesses and the culture in Downtown Denver?
People visit Instagram like google. Downtown Businesses have the opportunity to reach new customers and deepening relationships with current customers through relevant local hashtags, engagement and engaging content on Instagram. People go to Instagram for the basics like hours, address, etc. They also go to see products, services and the experience of others who have visited.
