Meet Chelsea Coyle of Chelsea Coyle Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Coyle.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography has been a hobby of mine since I was young. I picked up my grandpa’s old 1960s Canon FL camera when I was 12 and began to experiment with different techniques. As cameras switched to phones, I became the person with over 20,000 pictures on my phone. I had come to realize that I loved taking photos of people. I loved to capture personalities through film.

In 2019 I was gifted my Nikon in order to pursue portrait photography to a greater extent. Right as I was beginning to put the word out that I wanted to start a photography company, COVID happened and all my plans came to a halt. I focused on my family and began sharpening my skills in my day-to-day life.

At the very beginning of 2022, I decided it was time to get back on track with following my passion and starting my photography business. I have had amazing support from my friends and family encouraged me to follow my dreams.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have faced my fair share of struggles and still continue to do so. One of the biggest challenges that I faced, along with countless others was COVID. Right as I was beginning to spread the word about my potential business, COVID quickly put a halt to it. But in some ways, it also helped me.

It gave me more time to refine my skills and focus on the core structure of my budding business. One of my ongoing challenges is keeping up with the day-to-day tasks like social media and maintaining an online presence while caring for my 3 children, the youngest 2 being 1 and 2 years old.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Chelsea Coyle Photography?
I am a photographer that specializes in family, newborns, maternity, and portraits. I love capturing people’s personalities, especially children. As a mother myself, it is always astounding how quickly your child will change and their personalities shift.

You want to savor every moment of their youth. I aim to capture that moment in a family’s life and embrace it! I love to capture the connection people share with each other and highlight their relationships.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
When I was rebuilding my business at the beginning of 2022, I had just rebuilt my website and went to post it on my Facebook page. I had not advertised the page yet and wanted to set it up so it was more complete before releasing it. I also was scared about taking that step. I was scared of failing at my dream.

This is where luck came into play. I accidentally posted my website on my personal page and within a couple of hours, the word had spread and I had my first 6 jobs booked! It was exhilarating and nerve-racking all at the same time!
