Meet Danielle Stone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Stone.

Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always loved makeup, especially with a focus on eyebrows, since I was a little kid. As I got older, I found a love for tattoos. Permanent makeup was the perfect combination of two of my interests and artistic talent.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have been fortunate that starting this endeavor was pretty smooth. I had been very interested in PMU for years but never really thought too much about it. My partner Danny is the best support you could have and he pushed me to actually pursue it. In Colorado you have to be licensed as an esthetician or cosmetologist first, so I enrolled in Esthetician school. Immediately after getting my license, I enrolled in a PMU course and instantly loved it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work out of Shield Maiden Tattoo out of Longmont, CO and it is an awesome woman owned/operated shop. I offer complimentary consultations if you’ve ever thought about permanent makeup but weren’t sure if it was for you. We can definitely figure out what would fit your style best! I offer microblading, powder brows, combo brows, and lip blushing. Lip blushing is growing in popularity and has quickly become one of my favorite services. In October I will also start offering nano brows, which I am very excited about!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
It is such a fun career! It does require a lot of schooling though. An esthetician license is a 600-hour course and the basic PMU certification is 132 hours. Plus, you’ll want to keep up to date on all the new trends and take ongoing master classes. There are constantly new services that PMU artists are able to offer and it’s exciting to see what you may want to specialize in.
