Meet Edglett Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edglett Moreno.

Hi Edglett, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved to draw and paint but I saw it as nothing more than a hobby until I had my first baby. I was struggling to find a flexible job. And any online job required a quiet, distraction-free environment. I would have to leave our newborn baby with my husband as he struggled to bottle feed a breast-fed only baby. It felt impossible. So I started promoting myself to do ANY custom paintings and crafts from home and before I knew it, my friends and family were asking for all sorts of cool paintings. Four years have passed and I have had another baby boy who is about to turn 2 and have a third baby on the way. Throughout these past couple of years, I have sold over 200 paintings and am absolutely blessed to be working from home doing something I love and feel passionate about. Plus, it’s great having two little helpers!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, my business has been a success! But yes, there have been customers that aren’t completely satisfied with their paintings. But I always offer to fix it, recreate it or give a discount to the current or future commissions. I want people to understand I paint the photos I am given and try my best to make them look their best. There have also been instances where I accidentally ruin paintings by trying something new and have to start over. It’s frustrating yes, but the second time around they end up better!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do custom framed watercolor portraits and Acrylic paintings on canvas of people’s families, pets and favorite celebrities. I specialize in portraits of people and I’m most proud of the paintings that bring people happy tears when they see it!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about my city is how supportive everyone has been to me being a young Hispanic mom. My customers are what keep me going. They pay me for a personalized painting they will love while I stay home with my family. It’s a win-win! What I like least about my city is how limited we are on craft stores and supplies. I would love to see more variations and brands at local craft stores rather than just online. I like to see and feel my tools, it’s just easier to shop in-store for me.
