Meet Emily Lemburg and Garrett Moen of Elevation Vision

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Lemburg and Garrett Moen. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Both of us were originally pre-med and decided that we wanted to practice a different type of medicine. Emily started working in an Optometry office as an undergrad and enjoyed the atmosphere and decided to pursue Optometry. Garrett’s father is an Optometrist so he had experience working in his office and that’s how he became involved with Optometry. We met in Optometry school and decided we wanted to start fresh somewhere new together.

We did a pediatrics rotation in Colorado and loved how many days we were able to spend outdoors throughout the year compared to the Midwest and decided to move here. We both worked in various offices when we first moved here and decided we wanted to branch out and build our own office and practice the way we think is best. We believe in comprehensive eye exams to providing the best preventive healthcare in our office.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening a practice cold (without a patient base) was difficult in the beginning. Everything you do in the office is your first time doing it so you are continuously learning new skills that are outside of Optometry. The pandemic also threw us off for a few months where we had to shut down the practice for primary care and see emergencies only. It was weird sitting at home unable to work or run your brand-new business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Elevation Vision is a small private practice in Castle Rock, CO. We provide very comprehensive eye exams to every patient by running a variety of machines and taking photos for early detection which is crucial to eye care. We specialize in the cornea (front of the eye) by taking care of emergencies involving foreign bodies in the eyes, red eyes, and irritated eyes.

We also specialize in fitting difficult contact lenses and dry eyes. We have the newest treatment available and recently FDA-approved for treating the underlying cause of 85% of dry eye which decreases the need for drops. We can make single-vision glasses in one hour which allows us to help people who need glasses right away. We provide services for ages 3 years and up and love getting to know all of the families in the area.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Emily was a shyer child but liked to keep very busy. She was involved with everything from sports to student council to the yearbook. Garrett was a very inquisitive child and always asked and learned how things worked and built models.
