Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Gerboth and Nedra Hale.
Nedra became a midwife after working as a childbirth educator and doula. She decided she could better serve families as a primary practitioner. She trained in Arizona and enjoyed a successful, busy practice for several years there before moving to Denver.
Gina decided to become a midwife after experiencing her own home birth in Denver. The difference between practice models, and the level of engagement and autonomy that she experienced as a client made it clear to her that she wanted to be able to offer this model for others for years to come.
We have been providing home birth midwifery care to the Denver Metro area as solo practitioners who often relied on each other for assistance and back-up for nearly 8 years. We recently decided to begin a formal partnership so that we can maximize the unique contributions that each of us brings to practice. We anticipate the launch of our new partnership this summer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The very nature of midwifery means that it is fraught with ups and downs. Both Nedra and Gina have had personal and professional challenges during their journeys. Part of the motivation for creating a partnership is the ability to have a colleague and friend who can support you during the tough times, and celebrate with you during the good.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Metro Midwifery – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We offer home birth midwifery services to the Denver Metro area. This includes complete prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. We also offer high-level lactation support, childbirth education, and continuing education for midwives.
We highly value the midwifery model of care. We also believe that choosing to birth at home is a conscientious, deliberate, and informed decision. Making that decision, however, should not mean that you must forego the standard of care. We pride ourselves on offering excellent care while holding true to the roots of midwifery.
Together, we bring twenty-years of experience as homebirth midwives. We pride ourselves on staying up-to-date and providing evidence-informed care, advocating for rigorous midwifery education, and promoting deep engagement in the midwifery community.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The creation of our partnership is the next big adventure for us. Not only will we be establishing a practice, but we will also be creating a community. We look forward to being able to offer a variety of opportunities for homebirth families and local birth professionals.
