Meet Halim Ali of From The Heart Enterprises in Northeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Halim Ali.

Halim, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When it comes to my story, I must begin with my childhood. The third son of five, always being bullied so I was always fighting, constantly getting suspended from school. There was much and plenty that I did not understand so, therefore, I was a very inquisitive child. But throughout those fighting years, I ultimately developed a love for fighting which would eventually lead me into gang warfare and fighting the wrong fight. I didn’t expect, nor did I want to live to see 30 years old. I despised life and what’s worse, I despised myself. Crime after crime, fight after fight, felony after felony, I began to grow weary of always being in trouble. As I watched relationship after relationship decay, as I watched friends die or receive long term prison sentences, I began to realize that something was wrong with the way I was living and I wanted a change. I knew that, having exceeded my life expectancy, that either I surrender to change or die.

Throughout my journey, even in the streets, there were always remnants of spirituality, philanthropy, public speaking, event planning coordination and execution and several other skill sets that would ultimately lead to the conception of From The Heart Enterprises.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been anything and everything but a smooth road. I have suffered through the pangs of incarceration, addiction, homelessness, social injustice, gunshot in my chest, racially profiled, robbed at gunpoint, three divorces and even ostracized from my own family.
