Meet Heather Willer of Axis Pilates Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Willer.

Heather, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for movement and health started at an early age through dance, gymnastics and the great outdoors. While going to college and working as a dance and fitness instructor, I was introduced to Pilates in 2003. Impressed by the intelligent philosophy and feel of the practice, I decided to get my comprehensive Pilates training through an extensive apprenticeship. I then went on to become a PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certified instructor in 2008.

Before deciding to own a studio in May 2017, I had the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of the Pilates industry, from studio management to hosting teacher training programs, continual education workshops and being on the ground floor of opening several studios. However, even with as much experience as I had gained over the years, I learned that you truly do not understand the role of an owner until your actually walking in those shoes.

As the saying goes, timing is everything and the first year in business kicked my butt. Even though I was successfully growing the business, life came with its own set of challenges. I was raising my son who had just turned one, my husband changed careers and my father (a single parent who had raised three of us) passed away. But I suppose the beauty is in the triumph. When you want it, you put in the work and your true motivation is to help people feel better through exercise, it all works out 🙂

My passion is sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients about business as well as gaining a greater understanding of our bodies through movement. There is no greater thing then to watch people discover and achieve the results they’ve been struggling to find. My goal with Axis is to have a space where people can sweat, laugh and be inspired to live a lifestyle of balance and strength.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Axis is a boutique neighborhood studio that offers both core and cardio with Pilates, Indoor cycling and TRX suspension training. We’re open seven days a week and have both private and small group training. We offer over 30+ classes weekly and have a max of only six clients per class to ensure the most professional hands-on experience we can deliver to our clients.

I wear many hats as the owner. Along with running the day to day operations of the studio, I am also an Instructor. My team and I pride ourselves on quality instruction and have years of combined education to confidently work with all types of clients including pre/postnatal, chronic pain management, athletic performance and conditioning, pink ribbon programming and addressing various forms of rehabilitation.

I am a big advocate for continued education and contribute financially to my team’s education. It is important to have the latest information to deliver the best to our clients.
