Meet Hope Gorman of Fetch Barker in LoDo and LoHi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Gorman.

Hope, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Initially starting my career in educational nonprofits and living in Boston and NYC. Last year, I decided I wanted a change in career and scenery and I moved out to Denver and started working as a full-time dog walker and pet sitter and have been hooked in the profession ever since.

Fetch Barker is run with heart because it is my perfect mix; it allows me to spend my time doing what I love (working with dogs and people) and it gives me the opportunity to both learn and teach which is another passion of mine!

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a solo business comes with challenges because I am a “YES” person and I am constantly saying “yes!! absolutely!!” I want my clients to be provided with the best customer service possible and know their furbabies are in good hands. I also want to be available as much as possible for them and have the quickest response time, even on weekends. However, I started Fetch Barker for freedom and flexibility, but I find myself working all the time, which is FINE, I do love all the pets I work with, but I eventually would like to grow my business and find reliable and trustworthy people to hire.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Fetch Barker started because my idea of what it can be for you and your pet is more significant than what’s out there. I want my clients to feel like they have a boutique experience. Pets should be a valued member of a family, and I understand how hard it can be to leave a pet in someone else’s care, but I want my pet owners to know I have a true devotion, affection, and respect for their pet. I think all of them know this by constantly going the extra mile. As far as specialties, I have owned flat-faced breeds, and currently, walk and pet sit many frenchies, pugs, and bulldogs. I know how to properly take care of them and their special needs.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes!! I have lived in Miami, NYC, and Boston, and Denver is by far is the most dog-friendly city I have ever lived in! I feel like the majority of people in Denver own a dog! There are also plenty of people who are wanting to use professionals and actually know who is taking care of their furchild, over using an app!
