Meet Jake Moncrieff of Sneaky Nieky Designs in Capitol Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Moncrieff.

Jake, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Sneaky Nieky started just as an idea that we never knew if we would truly go after but knew we wanted to do. A friend of mine was telling me about how he’s doing graphic design and making clothing to sell on his online store. This immediately grabbing my attention, I knew that the dream was completely possible if we just worked hard and went after it. Months went by trying design after another testing the waters in our online store. Finally, we started to get a pretty good following here in the Denver scene and the LA scene. From there, we were off to the races and we have never looked back since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’d be lying if I said the first year was easy. It’s discouraging at times for sure. You would go days even sometimes weeks without a single sale. You question throwing in the towel numerous times. My fiancé Tierney has been my rock and support every step of the way. Always encouraging, always pushing, always positive for a light at the end of the tunnel. Without her, I could probably say I wouldn’t have made it this far successfully. Thank you Tierney.

Sneaky Nieky Designs – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sneaky Nieky Designs is a clothing company based out of Denver. We design all sorts of clothing and stickers that we sell mostly through our online stores but also do special orders for local sales upon request. We are known for having a more fresh trendy feel to our designs, I’d say ‘streetwear’ if you had to categorize it.

The biggest thing that I am proud of as a company is that we have always stuck to what we wanted to do with it. Even in the low moments, we chose to never sell out and to continue doing the designs that we felt were true to our style and not just come out with a money maker to please the public. We are who we are and we love what we do.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is being strong enough to stay true to you but still being able to make something of it. It’s difficult to not steer to what the industry is telling you to do. But seeing our designs out there in the world, getting tagged in posts on social media, seeing these people truly stoked for their new clothing, that is success for me. I am happy seeing other people happy with our designs.
