Meet Jennifer Lowry of JL Interior Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Lowry.

Jennifer started out in the financial arena working in the retirement planning, as well as the mortgage industry. Although she enjoyed working with numbers and assisting clients with their investments she was continually drawn to her creative side. In 2008, she pursued this passion for Interior Design and Staging. Her skill sets from the financial industry has since carried over to her interior project managing services with a clear understanding of real estate values and budgets. Today, you will find her style of staging and design encompassing both function and organization, which she feels are key components in a well staged and well lived home.

Her company JLID is featured in Colorado’s Best Kitchens Magazine and American Dream TV. Currently she is the President for the Real Estate Staging Associations for Denver Metro Chapter, and offers classes with CEU credits in both staging and organizing. She holds certifications and designations such as RESA, NAPO, and IDDP to name a few.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle was at the very start… in 2008 whereas the economy had a downturn and made it very difficult as a new designer and stager to find work. Between the balancing act of work efforts in the mortgage industry I took on side work in design and staging projects just to keep my skillset alive and practiced. A few years later I was working with general contractors on larger-scale projects referred by realtor and client connections and became a Remodeler by definition despite the strained economy. With a lot of patience and perseverance along my journey, I have since created amazing realtor, contractor and client connections that have catapulted me into what I consider my specialty and main focus. Design to Sell Staging. The ability to consult clients on any type of interior project and on any scale of budget and guide them in a design that maximizes the potential value where a client anticipates selling in the short-term future. I believe true grit is what defines my success today.

Similar to an Interior Design Consult …I ask a lot of questions about what the client’s goals are with budget and time in mind. I educate my clients on what staging is as a whole and together we discuss the potential each space has in adding to the resale value of the home. Decluttering thru help in professional organization, addressing maintenance and/or updating with Interior Design work, as well as color consulting separates me from the typical Home-Stager and Designer.

What were you like growing up?
Imaginative, adventurous, and creative thinker.

Adventurous: I have always enjoyed the great outdoors whether its road tripping, camping, hiking, or traveling. As a child my favorite play was being outdoors. Building forts, fishing off the river and making mud pies! I guess you might have considered me a bit of a tomboy! Road trips and camping as a kid were nothing less than spontaneous adventures. My father would have the car packed overnight and with all of a one hour notice we were off to the mountains to seek out an off the grid campsite!

Imaginative: I’ve always had an entrepreneurship passion in running my own business even as a child. From running a babysitting club to selling handmade crafts. I was always looking for ways to make money using my creative side needless to say, lol.

Creative Thinker: An organized life has been a natural ability I had growing up. Relocating more times than I can count growing up. I was essentially repurposing furniture and its placement in every possible way to maximize the space and the function. I believe this has lent itself to some of my Interior skills and services which are redesign, organization and space planning!
