Meet Jessica Sidener

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Sidener.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37. I didn’t have any family history of breast cancer, I was too young to have a mammogram and I thought breast cancer couldn’t happen to me and had never done a breast self-exam. One day on a whim, I did a breast self-exam and found a lump; it was cancer. Throughout my journey, I realized that women rarely have the opportunity to ask their healthcare providers the important questions about being breast health aware. This is what inspired me to start Night Out With “The Girls” (NOWTG). To bring education and breast cancer survivor stories to women in a fun, comfortable and safe environment.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let’s just say it’s been a “bumpy” road, no pun intended! Finding a lump in your breast is terrifying and can be an isolating feeling. When I launched NOWTG in October of 2018, the response and interest were overwhelming. Women are craving the opportunity to do something for themselves and to take their health into their own hands. We have done trial runs of our events, spent the last six months perfecting our processes and systems and are now ready to bring NOWTG not only to the public but to corporations and organizations as an alternative to traditional corporate wellness programs.

Please tell us about Night Out with “The Girls”.
NOWTG is an events company that educates women about early breast cancer detection and breast health awareness. We host public events each month that are available for any woman to attend for just $30 per person. We also take NOWTG directly to corporations, small businesses and organizations as a wellness program for their female staff, employees, and spouses.

We pride ourselves on bringing comfort, connection, and conversation to all of our events. We want women to leave an event feeling empowered and inspired and most importantly, to know what steps to take to become breast health aware.

  • We host public events every month at our office in Serendipity Labs in DTC. The public events are $30/person.
