Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Raskin.
Jeremy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started off owning several rentals as a business venture with another friend of mine. We purchased one 4-plex in Westminster and the real estate “bug” latched onto me then. I went to real estate school to learn more about being a better landlord, understanding the rental market, etc. Eventually I earned my Colorado Real Estate license and it propelled me from there! My first business venture in income properties became a huge success by not only brokering more rental properties but also averaging $6,000 per month in gross profit on eight units. Eventually, as they say, “all good things come to an end.” My business partner and I sold the rentals off and closed up shop, but then things really started happening for me in terms of real estate.
During this time I met my wife who was from a small town in Kansas. She grew up with her family in the cattle business and it was always something I dreamed of doing; owning my own ranch and building my own custom home. Growing with her, I learned the business side of farm land, agriculture, ranches, etc. Being inundated with the family business, I quickly learned many aspects of farm/ranch life and honed-in on the sales and real estate side of things. To start, we bought 20 acres in the Fort Lupton/Hudson area and eventually purchased more acreage to have our very own 145-acre ranch!
Eventually, I became my brokerage’s farm/ranch real estate expert and mentor training agent to those agents in my surrounding areas. I have brokered numerous deals in land for construction, agricultural purposes, residential homes, income properties, and even commercial building projects. Now I am one of Northern Colorado’s premier agents in the residential, farm/ranch, and commercial agriculture world! I am very blessed and fortunate to be given the opportunities I have had.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, absolutely not! I always say, “If it were easy everyone would be doing it.” Real estate is a “referral-based” business, no matter how much marketing you do. It took a while to get my sphere of influence going as well as the learning curve associated with the intricate details of the Colorado real estate market. Obviously, there is a risk to any big reward and this holds true for real estate. Dealing with your own personal finances and taking many risks in the market can lead to sleepless nights, and this is multiplied when you are dealing with someone else’s hard-earned savings! I don’t take this lightly and there is a huge responsibility an agent must incur when brokering deals for their clients.
Please tell us about the company.
I have worked as a Broker Associate for JPAR Modern Real Estate for over six years now. My brokerage has over 150 agents and works across the state of Colorado. I specialize in land sales, farm/ranch, agriculture, income/commercial properties, and deal with a lot of residential sales within the state of Colorado.
I am known for being the “in-house” farm/ranch/land expert for my company. I also am a Mentor to new agents within my brokerage and help them acquire the skills associated with being an outstanding agent. Furthermore, I help clients get started on how to build their custom dream home and educating clients on “first-time farmer” incentive programs that are available.
Honestly, I really enjoy helping people achieve their dreams. I feel that sets me apart from others in this industry. I truly believe the saying, “You will achieve anything you want in life as long as you help others along the way.” I believe in this and try to live my life every day to help others achieve their dreams.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I enjoy many facets of living in rural Northern Colorado! What I really like is the small town atmosphere where you can depend on your neighbors for help when needed, the community engagement and support at local events, and the overall aspect that attracts many to the agricultural/ranch lifestyle. Being out in this environment brings about hard work ethics in people as well as family driven goals. It is truly enjoyable to be around this lifestyle and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
