Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Lyons.
Julia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I think I always knew that I wasn’t meant to have a conventional job. Once I moved to Boulder, I really felt like I wasn’t going to buy into the normal way of living again. My healing path really set off when I started doing Reiki trainings. When I dove into that and started really listening to my intuition, all of these other techniques started to unfold. Things like little tunes and songs, moving the person’s body in a certain way, etc. After that, I really felt the call to start working with local plants both for medicinal purposes as well as more in the shamanic sense, so I began manifesting my current teacher, Ann Drucker. When I started working with Ann, I knew it was a perfect match. She works both in a Maya lineage as well as with local medicinal and edible plants. Since my work has begun with her, things have really taken off and my work/style of facilitating healing has developed beautifully.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely not always been an easy road, but if you’re willing to look at things honestly and do the work that gets presented, then that’s all you can do! The struggles have been in trusting and surrendering. When you’re working to build a clientele in this kind of business, it’s not always consistent, so just trusting that what’s happening in each moment is what is needed and surrendering into that.
Please tell us about Meadowsweet Healing.
I consider my ‘style’ of work Earth-Centered Shamanic Healing. I offer private sessions, house clearing/blessing/reclamation work, shamanic counseling, workshops, and consultations. Private sessions are done both in-person and remote and work with spirit and the earth to help facilitate healing to restore you back to your true self. Workshops include topics such as spiritual hygiene, working with sacred Tobacco, wild foods, and soon, I will be offering Reiki Trainings. I also make things! I make herbal products, jewelry, and other crafts with plants.
I am really proud of everything that I offer because I really try to stay true and authentic to myself and only offer things that I am passionate about.
I think what sets me apart from others is my earth-centered nature. There are lots of Reiki Masters and energy workers out there, but fewer people who commune with spirit and the earth in a grounded way that allows for deep integration.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Every year, my family used to drive down to Cape Cod. I used to go in the car with my dad and remember leaning my head on the door and closing my eyes with the sun shining on my face and the smell of a cigar being smoked.
