Meet Karina Kramer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Kramer.

Karina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I believe I was destined to be in this industry. My mother, Donna Merrill, was one of the pioneers of Boudoir style photography, so I grew up in her portrait studio. As a mom, she loved taking photos of me. She always said I was a natural behind the camera.

At a young age, I was featured in catalogs for Service Merchandise. As I got older, modeling was not as important as being a kid, but I could never shake off wanting to be in the fashion industry. When I was in 5th grade, I started drawing designs and set my sights on someday being a fashion designer. Going forward, I was always designing and dreaming of my future as a model or designer. My photography courses in high school and college to complimented my focus on fashion.

I knew I needed to learn as much as I could to serve my ambitions. Throughout school, I always had multiple things on my plate at once. I chose to take choir because I could sing. I studied art because I can draw and do crafts. I could take photos. I even worked for my mom and gained office skills. I battled a bit with the fact I was good at office work but was excelling and loving my creative outlets more.

I went to college for fashion design. I was awarded an extended internship with a well-known Dallas designer. My knack for styling was discovered as I styled for the shoots with the designer developing her clothing brand and my portfolio, other portfolios, and side projects.

After graduation, I decided styling was more my deal and started styling for events, special dates, and occasions. I loved working with clients to revamp their wardrobe, going personal shopping with them, and even reorganization projects on their closets.

In 2015, I moved to Colorado, where I began to model for clothing companies and various photographers. My work took a more serious turn when I started working with an agency. I was able to learn the ropes of the industry for models and actresses and fell in love with acting and voice-overs.

Currently, I am signed with a couple of modeling and talent agencies. I have been working in fashion shows, commercials, and some voice-over material. (I am looking forward to more voice acting opportunities!).

While doing all of this, I make time to continue my wardrobe styling and reorganization work. I love updating my client’s personal styles. It is so rewarding to watch people’s confidence grow as they wear things in a different, more fashionable way then they imagined possible.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What I have learned is, nothing is easy in this world. You just got to believe that you can do it. YOU have to have faith and passion.

I do modeling, acting, voice-overs, and styling because I love it and putting them all together or even separate, you can make beautiful things. Without struggles, you can’t succeed, so I take on every challenge and go full forward. Some things are harder than others, but every experience makes you stronger and better. I am happy for my struggles. Don’t get me wrong; I’m like everyone else; and sometimes difficulties get the best of me. But I’m here to learn lessons, and that’s what I’m going to do.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
With my modeling, I love to help people create the vision they are looking for a photo or product. I am very versatile and can do any type of style. I want to continue to grow in my profession as a model. Photographers like working with me as I can create my own content, style my own shoots, and input ideas, putting all the components together for a successful shoot.

As for my styling, I’m here to help with any occasion. I offer personal shopping, personal styling, styling for special events, or everyday life. I revamp your closet, showing you unique ways to wear their clothing and accessorize. I enjoy projects to reorganization of the clothing in your closets. In general, I can provide almost anything you need with your wardrobe.

In addition, I have done acting, music videos, commercials, fashion films, recorded interviews, and voice-over work. I want to do more commercials or even a cartoon. I love doing little kid voices, video game noises, and weird creature noises, etc.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It is hard to pick just one moment because every moment is a proud one, and it helps the next to be even better. I would have to say the best time is every time I get photos or a video back from a shoot or a commercial. I enjoy knowing I have made a difference or helped someone create the perfect material. I am pleased when people say they enjoy my positive and bubbly attitude. I want to make everything as happy as I can. I love helping people and creating with people.
