Kellsie, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
I specialize in empowering high-achieving entrepreneurs to become their best self in life and on video! Everything I coach stems from a mindset foundation to break through limiting beliefs to help explode their career growth and personal joy. As a professional actress and digital CEO, I help business owners and personal brands optimize their on-camera presence with more confidence and charisma to better connect, communicate and serve their audiences.
Can you talk to us about trends, like the trend of authentic videos and the importance of camera presence.
Think about the last time you bought something online. Did you check to see who has been talking about it on Instagram or YouTube first? Did you look for reviews, opinions or somebody validating the product or putting their brand behind it? Most likely, right? Our trend of influencer-based decisions is massive right now and it’s probably going to be on the up swings still for several years. There’s different cultural trends that happen every few decades that move from the public really admiring and looking at the true elite celebrity/super professional vs. the authentic, relatable person that creates connection with their audience and that’s currently the trend we’re in, especially with how accessible everyone is online through social media. It’s an extremely effective way of making us feel that rapport, trust and fandom differently when it comes to consumerism. Social media is a tool that lets people put a magnifying glass on certain aspects of their lives, to showcase the narrative they want told, while allowing them to be an expression of who it is that they truly are. They can use their power for good or for evil but if they’re being authentic and true to themselves, they’re going to have an audience for that. It’s going to create connection with their ideal client, ideal audience and value-based niche that resonates with their truth. That’s where VIDEO comes in because if you’re able to show up consistently so that you’re visible, heard, seen and your energy is felt, that’s where they get to decide if they become your fan or not. Our personality becomes inherently polarizing when we show up as our real, opinionated selves with our genuine energy that creates distinction from other people that are maybe having similar conversations in the online space. And part of why camera is so critical in the experience is because it creates that celebrity factor simply by somebody being able to recognize you. You’re moving yourself into an accessible celebrity status. Being authentic on camera is going to be highly effective for your business because you’re going to be recognized, you’re going to be known and then people will be able to decide if they like you, trust you and want to buy from you.
Maybe you can share some advice? How can someone discover or tap into their own charisma and charm?
One of my favourite exercises I like to take my clients through for really harnessing, identifying and pulling out their unique charisma and charm is by putting them in this visualization scenario of being at a party! They’re in a fun, relaxed but kind of giddy environment where they feel a little nervous, they’re dressed up but they know it’s a party and they’re there to talk to friends, hang-out with a bunch of people they know and meet a bunch of great, new people too. But the thing is, I am hosting this party and I know what they do, I know their business and I know a lot of friends that would be perfect buyers for them and they would be such a great match. At this party I would bring you over to these friends of mine that are the ideal client for you. I want to see how it is that you communicate your passion, your excitement, your solution, your service, your product and what it is that you do. Because I already told my friends about you and what you’re amazing at, so they kind of already know who you are and that you’re going to tell them about your offer because they’ve been shopping around for this solution and I’m gonna hook you up and give you this great introduction. So they already know that this business conversation will happen but in this fun environment and in this high-vibe energy. How is it that you’re showing up in that conversation? How are you when your passion sparks? How is it that you communicate and tap into the emotion of what it is that you do to get people, who are already interested and excited and kind of know you, to like you and trust you to say YES to you. That’s one way that I want my clients to start framing those conversations of how it is that they show up when they’re online. When you do a video on your own social media page, you’re showing up to the party and saying “Hey if you’re listening to this, you probably already kind of know, like and trust me, and you’re here to learn something and we’re gonna see if we’re a good match and if it’s a yes for us to work together or not.” It’s a fun, confident, non-desperate type of energy!
How would you advise folks to work through limiting self-beliefs and use their superpowers to grow their businesses and serve others?
It’s when we lose the ability to back ourselves, to truly believe in ourselves and to have the strength of fortitude, that we fall apart. That’s when we quit. That’s when failure happens. The only real “failing,” is giving up. Because otherwise you just keep going until you hit the next win, and then the next win etc. My advice for people to use their superpowers to grow their business is to really have such a deep understanding of why it is that they do what they’re doing. I want them to think about two things:
1) What it is that you want. But not just the motivation factor of what it is that you want and the future that you desire, because that’s necessary and compelling, BUT it’s future paced so we don’t actually have that yet. It’s not tangible for us right now, so part of it feels like it’s still so far in the distance/don’t know if it’s real and possible for me, so you also need the second thing.
2) I also want you to look at the hard things you’ve overcome. With my clients, this is how I teach them to create their origin story. This is that foundation of where it is that they came from and what they’ve made it through to even get to this point now in the present with this awareness of creating that new dream, that new goal, that new life that they want. When we have those two things to focus on, that taps into our superpowers, our fortitude and that’s how we keep showing up and grow our businesses and ultimately serve others.
