Meet Lauren Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Wright.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up taking my father’s lead with the camera and as I grew older, I adopted my mother’s incredible drive to grow a business with creative talent. After I obtained my BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2003, I immediately began my career as a studio portrait & wedding photographer. I have since pivoted to portraiture on a more intimate level, working primarily with maternities and newborns. I dig deeply into my own motherhood experiences to help capture honest and intentional images of the emergence of new families, all while honoring their personal stories.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Every business ebbs and flows, I have experienced both ends of this spectrum over the years! Most artists tip towards a more emotional side to life so with every one of those ebbs and flows, I have truly felt it. The biggest challenge I have felt is the struggle to balance both my personal life and career as they are so closely intertwined. The best way I have found to work with this is to move slowly and take my time with both aspects, I love them equally!

Lauren Wright Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I photograph all stages of parenthood, but my truest love is for maternities and newborns. Part of my service to my clients is to search for true and unprompted connections in each of the relationships they hold with their loved ones. My goal is to capture these natural connections.

My faith in family, deep roots and connection is brought into every one of my sessions. I use my own motherhood experiences to help make emotionally evocative images of emerging new families.

Over the past few years, I have begun to see art in a new way. I want the images I make create a tangible feeling for all my viewers, I want the images to relate to you on a personal level, trigger memories and put you in that same time and place but unique to your own story.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is true happiness in what you do. Success is continued excitement & anticipation for what is next. I wrote the description of my dream job and I (gratefully) get to live it everyday. I look forward to what is coming next for me, so I do feel like I have reached point in my career where I am very successful!
