Meet Leah Ryan of Denver Housewives

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Ryan.

Leah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2007 I was trying to come up with an entertaining way to bring more business to my company. At the time, I was working for a real estate office and we needed to generate more buzz during the slower winter months. During this time, I also sold jewelry on the side. This was way before multi-vendor events were a popular thing. I did some research and proposed an “Open House” for our real estate office to be held within the building we were in.

I connected with some local businesses to set up vendor tables and created an area for folks to meet, greet and mingle. Then, I connected with a recently opened Sprouts grocery market to engage in the event. They donated 100 reusable tote bags for a giveaway, and other local businesses contributed some fun swag to fill the bags! One of the real estate agents’ daughters created a flyer for me, and we decided to incorporate a local food drive into the event! Just like that, I created my first Holiday Shopping Event + Food Bank Food Drive. It was a huge success! We filled up three truckloads of food donations and had a blast. There was an incredible turn out from the community to support local businesses and our food drive.

After that first event, I was hooked! I found a new passion and an exciting side hustle. I didn’t realize that my passion and drive would eventually turn into a potential career.

With my passions being brought to light and working with hundreds of local businesses for a little more than a decade, we are approaching 12 successful years! As all things go, it has evolved over the years into one of the most exciting, unique and incredible holiday shopping events in the South Denver Metro Area. I pride myself on finding locally owned small businesses with handmade giftable items that people truly love and look forward to purchasing.

All of this today that these specific events lead me to open up the Denver Chapter of Housewives in the City.

In September of 2016, I was discovered by the founder of Housewives in the City after being introduced by my friend Stephanie. I was asked to be the Lead Publisher & Social Media + Event Director for the Denver area. After a lot (and I mean A LOT) of questions and thinking… I decided to jump in headfirst.
After all, I had been heavily into networking for years at this point. I thrived on meeting new business owners and learning how I could connect them with people who needed their services.
It did not take long before my reputation preceded me and I would get dozens of messages each month leading with, “Hey, Leah… who do you know that can help me with this?”. It was then that I realized how valuable my connections were and that my friends, family and followers truly respected my opinions, work and referrals.

Launching the Denver Chapter of Housewives in the City has been an amazing journey! I have watched some amazing businesses grow their reach, exposure, sales and goals over the last couple of years and I am excited to say… I am not slowing down anytime soon!

Has it been a smooth road?
Launching the Denver Chapter of Housewives in the City has been really smooth and exciting. Scouting local restaurants, breweries and venues to host our monthly Ladies Night Out + Networking Socials (men are welcome too!) is always a good time and I have met some amazing restaurateurs.

I was, and am, very fortunate to have some fantastic and solid connections, not to mention the flourished relationships I have built, which have guided me into success with this blog and event business.

Staying focused, excited, engaged and interested helps bring a consistent crowd and rapidly growing following.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Denver Housewives in the City – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

We help you grow your business all while covering some of the best and most sought after events in the Denver Metro Area to highlight what an amazing city we live in!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Being a native to Denver, I have to admit that I take it for granted most days. We have everything in Colorado… mountains, lakes, city, sand dunes… but Denver has an incredibly rich history and culture.
I love the food, the buzz, the energy and the crisp and clean air you breathe while walking along 16th Street Mall and all of the people watching that occurs. There are so many things to do every weekend, year round. Museums, tours of historic neighborhoods, brewery buses, sporting events, concerts, parks and picnics, and more! What is there to not love?

One of my most favorite events in Denver every year is the Doors Open Denver weekend. The Denver Architectural Society maps out historical homes and buildings for you to tour inside and out. I have learned so many fun facts about Denver, its history and these phenomenal buildings. Not to mention some pretty special museums that you may never come across otherwise.

I could go on and on about my love for this city, including all of my memories of childhood field trips, rowdy teenage days and twitterpated date nights, but those are all stories for another day!
