Today we’d like to introduce you to Loni Peterson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the founder of LP Creative and I have lived in Colorado for seven years with my husband and our dogs. I have been a planner and logistics wizard for as long as I can remember. As an artist, teacher, and event planner, I thrive off the idea of making something beautiful out of nothing. Whether it is a blank canvas turned into a piece of art, bringing a lesson plan to life, or a stunning view turned into a ceremony space – the challenge is always exciting. I love getting my hands dirty and making beautiful things. There is something so satisfying about standing back, admiring your hard work and seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they respond to your creativity. Over the last decade, I have gathered a wide range of experiences from running a competition dance company, teaching Pilates, planning weddings, galas, golf tournaments, luncheons, grand openings, holiday parties, bridal and engagement parties, and even 5K runs! In addition to event planning, teaching has always been a passion of mine. I am currently an Affiliate Professor at Metro State University and teach Event Project Planning and Senior Event Production in the School of Hospitality Events and Tourism. I have been an educator for 12 years and I cherish the relationships I have built with my students, and I am able to do the same thing with my clients. Starting my own company has always been a dream, and I still can’t believe it is my reality!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have always been someone to go after my goals, dreams, and plan big things for the future. Growing up as a dancer, you struggle daily in class, but you learn that hard work and dedication pays off and the results speak for themselves on stage and at auditions. My personal road has not always been easy. I was diagnosed with a neurological condition called Syringohydromyelia at the age of 10. My family and I learned I was born with a malformation in my brain stem and it caused me to form cysts and Scoliosis. As a result, I endured two brain surgeries and I now have metal rods attached to my spine to correct my severe curvature. Even though this was a huge setback in my dance career, I was at the barre in ballet class as soon as humanly possible. I fought for the thing I loved to do the most and I learned so much about myself in the process. These early struggles gave me a thick skin and tunnel vision to achieving the goals I set out for myself. I believe this tenacity has stayed with me into adulthood and is the reason I can say I have found a career that I am passionate about, that I will fight for, and look forward to each day and the challenges that event planning can bring.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with LP Creative – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
LP Creative specializes in the planning and execution of weddings and special events. I also offer event design consultations, floral design, and I am working on building an inventory of decor elements to rent to fellow event industry folks. I am most proud that I am able to connect my world of teaching and owning a business with my students at Metro State. In the world of hospitality and events, experiencing things first hand is the best way to learn. I love offering my students opportunities to see behind the scenes of an event by volunteering, learning the ins and outs of what it takes to make an event for 1,000 possible, and in turn I am finding potential interns and employees who I trust and will help my business grow.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I believe that with each year, LP Creative’s client base will grow organically and exponentially based upon previous client’s experiences with our services. I would love to work with out of state clients and expand our service area to Texas and other southern states as I spent 20 years in Houston and I know what it takes to put on a southern weddin’! I have full faith in the process and I believe the clients I am meant to have will come to me.
- Full Service Wedding Planning $8,000+. This offer allows for the bride to share her vision but trusts that LP Creative will bring quality vendors and design elements to the table to create a memorable moment.
- Day of Event Coordinator $2,500. With this service, you get LP Creative’s full attention for 60+ days before the event. I will attend hair trials, multiple site visits, and do any research needed in order for your day to be seamless. I want to be available for anything you might need and I do not want to nickle and dime for every meeting, phone call, or email.
- Corporate Event Planning, starting from $5,500-$10,000. I have several years of experience in the fundraiser realm and I am capable of putting on a high-end gala with a small budget.
