Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Groves.
Mandy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started singing and dancing at an early age. I did talent shows, plays and musicals throughout my school years but ended up facing confidence issues and lack of ambition that caused me to have trouble beginning my career. Thankfully, I have always had an amazing support system. My parents have always supported my dream. I began acting professionally three years ago and I also began singing with Wash Park Band. These past 3-4 years have shaped me professionally and have given me amazing strength and confidence. I took a huge leap and quit serving two years ago to pursue my dreams full-time. I am now steadily working for myself as a commercial actress and singer.
Has it been a smooth road?
Early on, I had confidence issues and stage fright, so I had to overcome that, but the best move I made was to get out of an abusive relationship I had been in for years. Once that wasn’t clouding my sight, I was able to really lean into myself and start accomplishing my goals.
The biggest obstacle that I’ve faced since starting my career has been learning to balance everything. I wish I had more time in the day. I am very close with my parents and would love to spend more time with them but my schedule doesn’t allow a lot of downtime.
I also have injured my voice NUMEROUS times. I didn’t realize how my entire life is my voice! I am currently on vocal rest and it has been difficult to heal with performances every weekend and frequent auditions and shoots.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with you – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a full-time actress and singer. I mostly do commercials. I also sing in a 12-piece band and I have a solo music career as well. I most recently released my 2nd EP in the span of 6 months on May 1st. I’m super proud of this EP because it was created and completed in a month while I had an injured voice. I had a sudden burst of inspiration and I wanted to challenge myself as well as put out more music. I pride myself on my drive and professionalism.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I am a Denver native and I love this city. I love the diversity and how kind the average person is here. Denver has always had a welcoming and friendly energy.
