Meet Marci Lundy of 303 Face | Body in Downtown Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Lundy.

Marci, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
If I’m being honest here, I started the day I sat at a desk job in Los Angeles, longingly looking out the window at a delightful day, wanting to be outside, and desiring to do more with my life.

Fast forward about a year.

My boyfriend, then husband, Tucker and I moved to Colorado. Experiencing a diving accident at age 14, my husband is a quadriplegic, and we moved to Colorado because of it accessibility for him, and ultimately offered a great quality of life; for both of us.

Colorado is beautiful, and Colorado is DRY!

My skin and hair were literally dying of thirst. Along with the knowledge that I already had through years of magazine subscriptions to Allure and Harpers Bazaar, I knew the positive skin benefits of shea butter, coconut oil and Aloe Vera; now I needed to do a bit of homework and learn how to create my own organic skin care products.

I started with DIY skincare, gifting friends and family with homemade chic products in exchange for their honest opinions. Feedback was positive, and I certainly saw my own skin starting to get better by using my products.

Within a year of beginning, I started selling at craft fairs, which was so fulfilling and so divine. Meeting fellow creatives, bartering, and introducing 303 Face | Body to new individuals motivated me even more, and I began to expand the line.

Within two years, I added a line of candles and gained exposure in three local boutiques.

Through a myriad of logo and packaging changes, year three saw me having a wonderful partnership with Uncommon Goods; year four to present allows me to have a wonderful and successful ongoing relationship with Organic Spa Magazine. Year five saw an amazing collaboration with Good Green Box out of Australia, and year six has lots of fun things in store. A labor of love that offers the reward of being able to help others look and feel their best.

These days, I oftentimes find myself wishing for more hours in the day, as my husband and I lead extremely full lives.

As I stated earlier, my husband is a quadriplegic, and I take care of him… and I love it because I love him. Being an active part of the City and County of Denver, as well as recently starting his own production company, his plate is full! Since the day I met him, I always expressed how important it was for people to see that he has an active life; a regular life.

This would be a good time to point out that I’m a photographer, and have delighted in taking pictures since childhood. Not only is my photography incorporated into my company, but I’ve taken an excessive amount of pictures of my husband and I, you know, doing life… And this has helped to show many a way of love and a (successful) way of life that they may have never really thought of before, and it’s so rewarding.

In closing, I am so far removed from the young lady who sat at her desk at the office longingly looking out the window wishing that she was outside, doing what she truly wants to do. I’m there. Front row, center. Doing it all now. Organic skincare line. Photographer. Interior Decorator. Writer. Podcaster. Wifey. I’ve happily and wholeheartedly made it all my niche.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve grown up quite a bit on this road of creating and maintaining a business. For the most part, the road has been smooth, but naturally, as I grow, ideas and concepts change.

What seemed like an amazing idea in 2012 does not necessarily feel the same in 2019, and there’s nothing wrong with that; that’s what growth looks like.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 303 Face | Body story. Tell us more about the business.
303 Face | Body started as an organic skincare line and has now developed into a lifestyle brand. This naturally developed as I have so many interests that all work wonderfully well together. Being a photographer, I take the pictures for everything that has to do with the brand. Being a writer, I’m able to put together the product descriptions, as well as a lifestyle blog for the brand. Being an interior decorator, I’m able to use the loft that I share with my husband as the literal #houseof303, similar to the Chanel, or Dior, or any given fashion house; but instead filled with plants, books, candles, art; the loft serves as a museum, if you will. This makes the brand a way of life, and it’s a beautiful, zen-like way to be.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m a hopelessly positive individual that oftentimes sees the beauty, (and a way) in things or people that others may overlook. I’ve been like that for as long as I can remember. Going through life with such an optimistic naïveté creates such positivity. I literally feel that I always have all of the luck in the world.
