Meet Melanie Caton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Caton.

Hi Melanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We purchased Frozen Spirals in 2020 and began a new chapter for our family. I have a background in energy and Monica in the service industry. We chose Frozen Spirals over other similar business concepts because using fresh, whole ingredients to make the rolled ice cream is important to us, unique and delicious! It is mesmerizing to watch as the artists make the ice cream, almost like watching taffy, pizza crust, or sushi being made – it’s just fun.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID presented many challenges with staffing, store operations, supplies, and just about every financing resource available to small businesses. Challenges keep things interesting; every day presents a new opportunity for growth and improvement.

There is no better job than making, and testing, new ice cream flavor combinations then sharing them with others. Who can resist the pure joy and excitement of people enjoying ice cream! We are fortunate to be located in Westminster, it is a wonderful and supportive community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our highest priority is product quality and taste. We have seasonal menus and ingredients. All of our ice cream products are made in house using fresh, whole ingredients and is not frozen until you order. Unique flavor combinations are made to order and rolled up right before your eyes. This is the freshest form of ice cream, frozen at the ideal temperature for eating with a wide selection of additions to make your own favorite flavor combination.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Our amazing staff that create beautiful and delicious ice cream cups to order. A lot of friends and family have helped us along the way with equipment modifications, labor, graphics, and patronage. Peggy Caton has been instrumental in our growth and James Wiegel’s support has been invaluable.
