Hi Melanie, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I’m Melanie Gruenwald, Executive Director of Kabbalah Experience in Denver, Colorado. I assumed my role in 2019 and have since led the growth of our organization. Kabbalah Experience is an adult learning center focused on the teachings of Transformative Kabbalah. By accessing and participating in these group learning lessons and practices, our goal as an organization is to help our students realize their purpose in life, contribute to the well-being of family and friends, affect positive change in their communities, and ultimately, radiate peace to the world.

Kabbalah Experience was founded in 2006 by Dr. David Sanders, our Spiritual Director. In the years since Kabbalah Experience was founded, more than 1,300 students have experienced the life-changing power of transformative kabbalah’s practical and empowering teachings.

What is ‘Transformative Kabbalah’?
Transformative Kabbalah combines traditional mysticism, contemporary psychology and quantum physics. The study and application of Kabbalah’s insights reveals to us the parallels between physical and spiritual reality. Kabbalah Experience’s curriculum is created based off of these enduring principles, ultimately teaching us to understand and appreciate the soul awareness that connects all of created existence and to apply that understanding in your daily life.

Why would our readers be interested in Kabbalah Experience?
Kabbalah Experience constantly updates its curriculum to reflect modern day happenings, making the courses unique each semester. For example, one class even follows Netflix’s hit, “Shtisel.” No class will ever be exactly the same, and the inclusive environment allows for open conversations in intimate class atmospheres. The teachings, practices and guidance help students mindfully live and grow in their everyday lives.

Who are your students? Do I have to be Jewish?
Our students are located all over the world. We offer in-person, adult education classes at our Denver headquarters, but thanks to Zoom, we have students from all across the country to Canada, the UK, Israel, Spain, and South Africa.

We welcome all people to study with us at Kabbalah Experience, reaching a diverse audience of wisdom and spiritual seekers. While Kabbalah was born from Jewish tradition, Kabbalah focuses on mysticism, knowledge and understanding to shape our world into a more harmonious, egalitarian and peaceful planet. You do not have to be Jewish to explore our modern, personalized teachings of enduring Kabbalah.

What kinds of classes and resources do you offer?
Kabbalah Experience offers 4 years of curriculum, including beginner courses and advanced courses for continuing students. This intimate group learning experience is offered in person and on Zoom.

We also offer independent study options through our self-study video series. This allows students to study on their own time and at their own pace.

Can you describe how Kabbalah Experience has changed yours or a student’s life?
I began taking classes at Kabbalah Experience in 2016, when my son, Koby, was diagnosed with cancer. He was not able to attend school full-time, and loved spiritual and Jewish study. David created space for us to learn together at KE. It was meaningful to have a place where we could connect outside of cancer treatment and therapies.

After Koby died in January, 2018, I continued taking classes at KE. It was a space where I could find energy and connection and build community and connection outside of my normal communal base. When I came to KE, I felt more energized, and my grief was a little lighter.

David invited me to start teaching at KE in the fall of 2018. We began talking about the growth of the organization. With my experience in nonprofit leadership, and his interest in bringing in a new Executive Director, a partnership was formed.

I currently serve as the ED of the organization, teach Foundation classes (Year 1 and 2 of the curriculum) and also create my own offerings.

What is the biggest takeaway from Kabbalah Experience classes?
Kabbalah tradition states, “You are the project, not your projections.” Our goal in classes and as an organization is to guide people to deeper awareness and fulfillment in their lives.

We want students to walk away from classes without limitations to experience life richly in the present moment, increase compassion and personal peace, and bring positive change to their lives and a troubled world.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
You can find us and all of our class offerings at Summer classes begin July 13- there’s still time to get connected. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @kabbalahexp. If you wish to donate to our nonprofit organization, please visit:
