Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Miller.
Paige, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved to be creative and work with my hands. I got into henna at a very young age (I was about 11 years old) after my mom got mad at me for drawing on my hand with pens and markers. She became frustrated that I wouldn’t stop so she took me to get a henna tattoo and I fell in love with the art. She then gifted me a henna starter kit and I learned how to make my own henna paste, roll henna cones, and apply it to the skin. I find it extremely relaxing to sit down with someone and henna them. As soon as I turned 18, I registered my business and Colorado Henna was born. I started advertising and gaining clientele. I did private appointments out of local coffee shops and traveled on location for various events such as Mitzvahs, weddings, graduation parties, and other fun celebrations. I love the ability to travel to new places and constantly meet new faces all while doing something I love.
I grew my henna business while I went to cosmetology school. While in school, I really enjoyed styling hair and received an opportunity to assist artists on weddings. I learned a lot about creating updos, applying makeup and working with a diverse clientele. After graduating cosmetology school, I worked for other bridal companies while building up my own businesses and portfolio.
I now do hair and makeup for brides, special events, photo shoots, fashion shows and film. I’ve gotten the opportunity to work backstage at New York Fashion Week and work with clients such as Maxim Magazine. I now have a studio location in Littleton where I take appointments and I still travel on location for events. In my studio, I do facials to help brides get their skin wedding ready, hair and makeup for trials and special occasions, and take private henna appointments.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any business, the road to success is not a straight line from point a to point b. I am constantly learning and growing in all of my crafts and will continue to do so. I am constantly looking to learn from others and still ask many questions along the way. I’ve faced a lot of “no” and doubt in my pursuit of success and have always pushed through to find another way.
Please tell us about Colorado Henna, Paige Kayla Hair & Makeup.
I specialize in bridal, film and print hair and makeup. While I do anything from natural to glam to editorial looks, my favorite look to do is when I enhance someone’s natural beauty. I have experience in many aspects of hair and makeup so I’m very versatile and have a large kit that can create almost any look for any occasion.
Colorado Henna specializes in providing henna services for special occasions such as birthday parties, corporate events, proms, or Mitzvahs. We have a team of artists on hand who can handle any small or large event!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. I have definitely made mistakes along the way, but that has allowed me to learn and grow. Without all the experience I have already had, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Because of my past, I know where I want to go in the future.
