Hi Samantha, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Hi everyone, my name is Samantha Schultz, and I started Plan Your Perfect Vacation over 5 years ago with one mission: To inspire people to see the world. As owner and lead travel planner, I love to connect with clients that prioritize experiences and know that personalized details make all the difference when discovering somewhere new.

My passion for seeing the world started during college when I took my first 6-week trip to Europe. From there, I have continued to travel and experience the world in a way I could have never imagined and have now traveled to over 60 countries and counting. Since 2002, I have continued to prioritize travel and couldn’t wait to start my travel agency after a corporate career, knowing that my job description would ultimately have to include traveling the world – each destination I explore is something I take seriously to provide the most expertise to clients. Traveling the globe has and continues to change me in so many ways. This is why I love sharing it with all of you.

Why is travel more important now than ever?
Given the challenges from 2020 to now, the ever-growing realization that time spent with family and friends and memories made through travel is more important as ever. We have all grown closer to family and friends, keeping in touch via ZOOM videos and phone calls, as our freedom to travel has been impacted. The desire to spend time in person together has only enhanced the need for travel. It has taught all of us to not wait for perfect timing or the perfect year, to choose experiences over material things, and to prioritize connection with the world with the people we cherish.

What are some of the favorite trips you have planned during the pandemic?
Travel has changed immensely during the pandemic in that people want to explore and want to understand the world, but more than checking a box. They are realizing the importance of putting their money towards creating memories and not waiting until retirement or a special occasion for so called “bucket list trips”. Some of my favorite trips have included sending couples to the Maldives and Tahiti, families to Mexico and the Caribbean, and creating these experiences in a way that feels comfortable and safe to the travelers. For example, travelers that aren’t quite comfortable being in open public spaces or potentially in crowds are seeking out more private experiences – everything from booking a private jet to transport their multi-generational family, private boat and yacht itineraries to explore more remote islands and resorts, as well as private, custom land trips with a guide that can navigate them to off the beaten path areas where they can feel safe.

Why would you want to prioritize travel?
With so much change in the world and oftentimes a heavy focus on things that are no-so-happy, I always encourage people to stop for a minute and think about what they have done recently for their personal joy. I talk to so many people that say happiness is getting away from home, traveling, taking a break, getting to experience something new, relaxing, and the list goes on. The day to day grind and schedule of activities, especially of recent times has weighed on so many. What this ultimately culminates to is the need for prioritizing travel, the kind that will bring personal joy, rest, adventure – really anything that will fill your personal cup back up to feel renewed and ready to take on the world.

What is the best way to budget for an international trip?
The best way to budget for an international trip is to start with the flights. A quick search can show you that some far away destinations can easily eat up $1000-$3000 or more of your budget. From there, depending on destination and central location to large cities and popular spots, accommodation can easily run $300+ for a hotel room – and if it is an all-inclusive destination, $450 per night at the very least is a starting budget. Multiply those numbers by the number of days you would like to travel to get how much it will cost to stay. From there, budget in taxis, transfers, trains, tips, any other regional flights to get between cities, and of course food!

How is Plan Your Perfect Vacation able to help?
Plan Your Perfect Vacation is able to help by matching clients to life enriching experiences. We’re not what you think of when you hear the words travel agency – we go beyond the old days of handing you your paper plane ticket and hotel reservation. We serve clients that want more than a transactional online booking and want to leverage an expert to take a trip from ordinary to extraordinary and we do this through in-depth consultations and conversations because every person is unique, and we match those unique wants and desires to what they envision, combined with peace of mind of having support throughout the entire process. Our ultimate goal is to make travel seamless, stress free, and leaves you with the desire to begin planning the next trip upon return from your latest adventure.

It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
