Today we’re excited to introduce you to Sarah Duran. Sarah is a Freelance Coach and is also a content partner. Check out our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
I’m Sarah Duran. I began my career as a third-grade teacher. After leaving the classroom, I took on operational and development roles in both the for- and non-profit sectors where I led business development efforts and managed large-scale programmatic and research projects. About 5 years ago I started my company, Fruition Initiatives, so that I could work for myself full-time. I’m a freelance project strategist and consultant. I design and lead projects for a variety of organizations, help businesses refine systems and processes, and support researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, and leaders in turning their ideas into action. I also create content for and provide coaching to freelancers and solopreneurs. I’m extremely passionate about helping others to leverage entrepreneurship to live the life they want to live.
What is one thing freelancers and solopreneurs should be doing differently for their businesses?
Freelancers and solopreneurs let the logistics of running a business take over their lives and compromise the quality of their work. I’ve watched so many freelancers, solopreneurs, consultants, and small business owners fail because they aren’t naturally organized people – they have trouble developing the processes needed to run their work efficiently. They go out on their own to have more control over their time, work, and life and then end up working longer hours and feeling more overwhelmed than ever. They let project management undermine what they’re actually good at. That’s where people like me come in. You don’t have to be the most organized person in the world to run a successful business, you can leverage people who are organized so that the logistical things don’t undermine what you’re actually good at.
What do you cover in your new course?
My course, Run Your Business Instead of Letting it Run You, gives freelancers, consultants, and solopreneurs replicable processes to engage with clients from beginning to end, templates to do your best work in less time, and structures that ensure you over-deliver every time. It is basically all of the tools, processes, and secret weapons I employ for my clients and my own work wrapped up into a 5-module course. It gives people tried and true methods from a project management professional that they can put to work right away to take back control of their time, work, and life as a solopreneur. This course is everything solopreneurs need to build their work around what they love and then manage their time, and their clients’ journey, from start to finish like a true pro.
What is Freelancers Aligned?
I’m so excited about this new venture that I just launched with my business partner, Leah Meyers. Freelancers Aligned is a membership group that helps freelancers, consultants, and solopreneurs turn their skillset into a thriving business by joining a community dedicated to mutual success. We help people go from wannabe solopreneur to confident business owner with the support of people who have been there before and know exactly what they’re going through. We just launched our baseline membership, which is only $9 a month.
Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
